Not sure if this has been discussed here yet, but..

Would a 14.5" Barreled AR with Pinned Vortex to bring the barrel over the 16.1" be considered 16.1" or greater with our CFC?

Reason I ask is because I want to take my upper to the US for tac matches, and I know they should be fine over there, BUT, would I have problems registering this upper with the CFC as 16.1" or greater? Afterall, it does have to say on my reggie papers that its 16.1" right?

I see no reason for it NOT to be okay, since if the flash hider is pinned and silver soldered on, it is permenant.

Thanks in advance guys.

I have one rifle the same way.

Not okay with CFC, it is still reg'd as 14.5".
Your form 6 must reflect an accurate measurement depending on the FH type, as long as it is pinned or like mine silver soldered they are good with it.

There's your answer.

CFC really don't care about the length of your barrel on the AR upper, since it is already classified as a restricted firearm, you can buy a whole range of barrels from 7.5" all the way up to a 20" it will still be classified as a restricted.

He's talking about bringing it to the states. BBL length must be longer than 16" otherwise it's a SBR

I read sparrows reply as saying that what the CFC thinks the length is shouldn't matter when you're bringing it to the states, as their rules are different then ours regarding perceived barrel length(Correct me if I'm wrong)

Edit- Damn it. I'm going to bed.
