What Base and Rings for Rem 700

They stink! You're nuts. Trust me.

.

That's why they're my last choice, just before the tie wraps or hose clamps...:)

My favorite ring/base combo is the leupold dual dovetail with no apologies. my second fave are the Talley one-piece ring/ base. I can't understand why people would like the Burris Zee rings, or the weaver rings. The Zee rings actually count on metal being bent to tighten them to the bases, which, to me has never seemed like a good plan, and the weaver rings tork and bend the scope tube (horrible plan!)

I recieved a set of Talley rings for my new REM 700 today. They don't fit!! Both mounts are drilled about 900 thou c-c , problem is the holes on the rear of the reciever are only about 650 thou apart. Arrrggg! I phoned up the retailer, after a long conversation and them finding a set of calipers they figure there was a packing mixup. The profile on the bottom of the two mounts is different, one for the rounder chamber side and one for the back of the reciever. I'm sending them back, and they are sending another set. This kind of stuff only happens during hunting season!
