Well Sept. 1 st is next tuesday and I have a date with Kingwest outfitters for some duck and goose action here in Alberta. Been a few years since I was out for opening day. Should be some great work for our lab who will be hunting for his second season. A little 20 gauge Tungsten matrix in the morning for geese and some fasteel for ducks in the afternoon. Supposed to still be some good gopher action down that way between hunts, sounds like a full day. FS

Southern District Ontario opens for geese Sept. 10. Here's a short vid from one of last years hunts. My camera battery died before I could get the good stuff, but you get the idea.

Was a big fan of the opener when I was younger. Now I never go out before the reeds turn golden brown. Only prime mallards, scaup and redheads for me! Good luck guys!
I like to get all the geese I can early, so that I can get my jerky done quickly and it enjoy eating it all fall. I had some of last years Snow goose made into cheese smokies, man are they great. I don't think a plucked goose has come out of our over for a least 10 years. FS
Sept 10th and the geese open here. Already been by the fields and the geese are hitting the barley already.
Can't hardly wait. We usually nail a bunch of local geese before they figure it out. My buddy was out talking to one of the farmers and he said we could start anytime

Yup just chomping at the bit for the 10th to get here!!!! Got a special hunt planned with some good buddies, we are all taking our boys out on a field hunt. Their ages range from 4 to 11. The one guys boy is only two and he is coming along but he is a yellow lab I am envious of you guys who get to start on the 1st but in most of those regions you are locked in ice by early Dec, I hunted right until Jan 11th last year!!!! ( If my memory serves me right that was closing date)

Out here in Sask. it opens in 2 days and i don't see many flying around, farmers where i hunt tell me that it will be late this year(when the big flocks arrive). I have about a dozen diff. pea fields to hunt so I'll have to go out and scout....

Sept 5th and we'll be out for a week of early season. Half our corn fields are being taken off as I speak so by the 5th it's gonna be real good. There was a flock of 20-30 come and land in the grass field right beside the corn, waiting.
Man that would be awesome!!! They wont even think of combining a field until Nov. here in S Ont, there will be some silage come down before then though. We will be hunting hayfields and cut wheat field for the opener.
Here is very dry & hunting will not be vary good this year. I do have a few geese spotted and will give it a try. Good luck with the gophers, Was out last week & it was slow. 3 hr and got about 125. (5 quarters of pasture). Have a good time.AJ
