I got my new bird blaster on Tuesday that I ordered from SMacDonald (dealer on here) and took it to shoot some sporting clays last night.

All I can say is OUT-FREAKING-STANDING! Smooth cycling, feeding and shooting. Very, very light and the recoil pad makes shooting target loads feel like a .22 LR! The more I shoot this gun the more I like it and I can't recommend it enough. Not one FTE, FTF or even so much as a hiccup.

If you're thinking about getting an 870 I would seriously make a case for reconsidering that and instead going with the new 887. Shooting it is believing, and I'm a fan of the 870s.

I can't wait for a chance to go take some birds with this thing-- I'm in love.

I owe you a beer! Thanks for the report. Looks like I'm going to buy one first thing in the morning! I was just waiting to hear some more about the gun. I tried to search for feed back from buyers, but only found those two Remington ads. Did you get the black or camo with yours?

Excellent to hear its a winner, my brother-inlaw is torn between that and the Nova, now I can tell him the Remmy is golden.

I changed my mind when I handled one at the gun shop today, I went with the Super Nova. The Nova is ugly as sin, but I don't think the ducks and geese will notice!:D

I got the black one instead of the camo-- not worth the extra money IMO.

You're right in that the birds won't know the difference and the two guns are very, very similar. IIRC, the Remington is about $200 less than the Benelli though, so that made the choice easy for me, plus I'm hoping that the 870 barrels and accessories will fit the 887 and so I'll be able to put shorter barrels from Norc HP9s or even Dominion Arms grizzlies on it for backpacking trips.
I think the Remington is a bit lighter overall too, but really I don't think going with the Benelli is a step backward that's for sure.

The best part about the Remingtons, they are very easy to get parts for. I wondered if the parts from the 870 would be interchangable. Keep us posted! I may need an 887 in black.....you know.....for colour blind deer!:D

I'll let you know for sure once I get the chance to experiment with 870 parts and the 887.
At $400 for the 887 I'd say it would make total sense just to have it as a back up gun for your Super Nova. ;)
