Hey guys.
I must start by saying I'm a rifle shooter, not a shotgunner..
A buddy of mine and I pulled apart his Mossberg Maverick 88 in 12 gauge yesterday, with the intentions of cleaning up all of the old gunk on the bolt and in the reciever.
After the shotgun was all cleaned up, I started to reassemble it. After placing the bolt in the gun, the pump (and action bar) into its correct position, and installing the bolt slide, I started having some trouble.
When I install the shell stop and shell interrupter, this is where the problem lies.
If I install both parts, the trigger group will drop in easily, and it appears the gun is fully (and correctly) assembled. However, the action will not cycle fully, it will only open halfway.
If I remove the shell stop, (The hooked one that pivots on a little pin) the action will cycle smoothly. However, now, the shotgun will double feed.
Is there anything in particular that I may be missing when I assemble the shotgun? It seems that the bolt slide is somehow getting caught on the shell stop when it is assembled..
If anybody could offer any insight into the problem, that would be great.
The shotgun cycled perfectly before it was disassembled, so I believe it is just a reassembly problem.
Thanks a lot.
