I went to purcase a non restricted firearm from a sporting goods store today and they told me I could not take the gun home. I was told it went to the CFO for review. Does this happen often?

I am in Ontario, and the same thing happened to me on Saturday. Went to buy a new shotgun, but have to wait. Not to worry, the CFO does random checks every so often. Give it a few days, and call the CFO. I was kind of upset, as I have a fair drive to get my firearms, so now I waste another $20.00 in gas to go get a gun I should have now.

I've never heard of it happening with NON restricteds here in Alberta, but that doesn't mean that it hasn't happened.

Every non-restricted I've bought, I take home as soon as I pay for it.

It happens...

I'm in Ontario and sold my old 10/22 (i think 5 or 6 digit serial number) to a buyer in NS. It was on hold for "review" by the CFO.... no biggie for either of us, just had to wait alittle longer that's all, about a week.

you dont have to wait, just borrow it with the sellers reg certificate.

Kind of hard to borrow a brand new gun from a dealer. As far as buying or selling a used gun, I for one would never "lend" a gun to someone I didn't know.......Gallen270 can I borrow your car with your ownership?!:D:p

Same thing happened with my very first purchase last week, the purchase went to the CFO for aproval. Russian SKS, I am going to call on Tuesday (7 days) to see if the transfer is complete. The funny part is I registered 3 other guns that same day over the phone no problem and two more on Thursday.

After posting here and reading that it happens, I chalk it up to paperwork bs.
