Just purchased the subject revolver from Birddog, it was a pleasure dealing with him. Now I'm wondering where I might be able to purchase the original wood stock (grips) part number 7225 and 7226 to fit the subject revolver. Any information would be appreciated.

A 19 is a 'K' frame. Any 'K' frame grips will fit. There are 'round butt' and 'square butt' grips. You can buy 'em direct from S&W or a Smith dealer. Not cheap though. $79.71US.

Put a WTB ad in the parts & bits forum in the EE here on CGN. Specify if you are looking for the stock wood grips [small ones] or the larger target aka 'magnum' wood grips. And of course if your butt style is round or square. There are lots around.

The fuller style is often called "target grips" if that helps.

The original stock small shaped grips are likely pretty common since most folks with medium to large size hands switch over to the target grips. You shouldn't have any sort of big problem getting a used set if those are what you want. The target grips are also pretty common because a lot of folks switch over to Hogue or Pachmeyer grips and end up with the wooden ones rattling around in the drawer. A WTB in the parts and accessories section should turn something up. There's always Ebay as well.

If it's an M19 snubby, I prefer the look of original S&W stocks with a Tyler-T adaptor. They fill the hand well and (even though we cannot CCW in Canada), are very small and would conceal better under clothing than larger rubber grips which go against the natural design of the snubby.

A snubby with big grips just looks wrong IMHO.

If it's a 6" M19 then anything goes.

Tylers are the way to go if you want to work with original [small] factory grips. I put one on my vintage large frame S&W Handejector .455 so I could use the original factory stocks but still have a comfortable grip for shooting:

+1 for the Ahrends Retro Target as tjhaile mentioned upthread unless you're absolutely set on S&W grips. They've got the classic look of target grips but feel s-o-o-o much better.
