AR15 Optic choices?

I'm stuck on this one.
I've just picked up my AR15 Carbine, using flip-up iron sights.
I intend to use the firearm from 20-150m, shooting at balloons, and targets. I shoot both in day and night. Range is setup for watch and shoots, targets that will pop up from 20-100m.
Budget=value

C-More - EOTech - ACOG 1.5 - Aimpoint - or stick with Iron sights.

Just want to know how everyone feels about these sights, and where their strengths are.
 
I do not like the EO Tech. I wear glasses and I am near sighted. The dot and the ring around it is grainy and not clear. I thought it was the optic but it was me. I know alot of people who have had the same experience. I am sticking with irons until I figure out what i want because I want to make sure I want that $1200 ACOG before I buy it. Try others out when you get the chance to see what you like rather than order something and get stuck with it. Shooting at night??? umm I did not know that was legal.
 
Aimpoint Comp M4 is the best CQB sight hands down. Easy to use, ridiculous battery life off of one AA, VERY durable, waterproof. Add a 3x magnifier and you are now capable out to 300m with ease.
 
I run an EOTech and an ACOG on my carbine. I like the EOTech, it is very fast to aquire targets out to 200yards with ease. I wear glasses too and the "donut of death" appears fuzzy as well, but it isn't too bad and I can deal with it. For anything within 100yards, CQB, I don't think an EOTech can be beat. It is lightning fast, your not looking through a tube. I find the EOTech is an awesome sight for unconventional shooting positions which I do alot of. Battery life would be my only complaint with the EOTech.

ACOG. Tough as nails and accurate. Target aquisition is slower, but it is crisp and clear, even in low light. The glass is great! For precision work over 100-150 yards I use the ACOG and it fills this niche perfectly.

You can shoot at night. Some ranges are lit. I have ####ty eyes as well and the EOTech did the same thing to me. I've owned a number of ACOGs and I found that the reticles were not that crisp unless I was wearing glasses. The only sight that actually looks crisp and clean with out glasses is the Short Dot.
 
One thing I have found if a person has trouble seeing the Eotech dot clearly is simply move the optic forward further away from your eyes. The dot then becomes clear at least for me and a couple other people who have tried this which you would think is strange but it works.

Yup. The farther away the HWS is, the faster the target acquisition.

I have Aimpoints ( M3, M3s and M2s ) , EOTEC 511 and 512 , Trijicon Tri Power an various 1-4X on my Ars

My favorite recticle is actually the chevron on the Tri Power but batter life sucks

For goofing around at the range they all work well

For one that I can count on its Aimpoint all the way. Can't count how many times the Tri Power Battery died just sitting in the safe. Been to back to Trijicon and it still does that. My Eotec 511 ( N- Battery ) also has been dead from sitting in the safe. The AA version has been good but so far but I still make a point on turning them off

My Aimpoints are left on all the time. They claim 8 years continous on the M4. I'm only on year two

Bang for the buck you can't go wrong with the Aimpoint C3 . Great price and 50,000 hrs of batter life ! Only thing you give up over the M3 , M2 is the depth you can submerge them ( 15ft vs 75ft ) and no night vision option

If I were to do it all over again, I would have bought C3s instead of the M3s and M3s.
 
Thanks guys, I appreciate the positive feedback. I do not wear glasses, so I feel bad for you shooters that do...

My range is open until 2300h - unlit. Be Safe, Fire, Go home... is our motto.

I've lined up a shoot with a gentleman that owns ACOG 1.5x on an XCR.
I just think I am second guessing myself... I'm leaning towards something that is more CQB capable. I will leave the "reach out and touch somebody" style shooting for a different rifle.

I read, all of your posts, and will re-read the ones pertaining to CQB feedback.
