Just wondering what are the better gun clubs out here in the Surrey/Langley BC area. I've noticed a few people on the forum are members of the PoCo range, and I see the friendly moderator tootall is a member at Ridgedale.

I checked out Langley Rod & Gun, but they seem a bit miserable to me. I'm just looking for a fun, welcoming place to shoot my .22 pistol and work my way up from there. Any suggestions? Thanks!

Missionrodandgun, Abbotsford F&G are a couple of others. Don't be too put off by Langley, their mostly trap shooting fuds, not a bad lot, just maybe not too welcoming of other disciplines.

I'm at Ridgedale, I like it. It could be longer, but if I want longer I want it to be much longer which means shooting in the bush.

Poco is a nice range but way to busy for my taste. I enjoy shooting at Abby or Squamish both tend not to be overly busy and just about everyone I have encountered are friendly. Have to check out Mission one day.

:) Oh blush!

I had a membership at Langley... Not renewing though, bad times for anything not a 22 or shotgun, no rifles, and $10 every visit +$150 a year for membership isn't worth it to me I'm shopping for a new range myself and would like to check out abby.

Range fees?

Thanks for the input everyone. I noticed that on many of the club websites, they mention a range fee ($20 at Ridgedale, for example). Does that actually mean they charge members $20 each time they visit to use the range? Does everyone charge these fees?

If it's really $20 each time I want to go shooting, on top of membership fees, maybe I'll take up a cheaper hobby, or find a friend with a farm and go plinking. :D

There is no daily fee at Ridgedale for members. Pay your annual fee and you're good to go. Visitors must be accompanied by a member and there is a $3 daily visitor fee.

It's a great little range and I'm usually there alone on weekdays.

perhaps you mean PoCo? I think they are $20 for non members.
Ridgedale does not let unaccompanied non members shoot. They have to be a guest of a member and as Geologist notes, the rate for a guest is $3 (next year $5)

DVC ventures is a great facility and I like that you can rent guns but I'm not sure about the $300 annual fee that's pretty expensive if you won't be renting.

Does anyone know how busy the range is during the week, I've only been once.

More frequent goers can comment on how busy it gets; I've been there twice, on weekdays, after hours (6-9), and it wasn't very busy at all.

They recently had a membership discount going that ended today ($200, and that's a full year, not annual) which is competitive with regular ranges ($150ish), they're open late every day (vs 3 or 5pm), have handgun storage for members, and of course all indoor, so there may very well be value if you mostly shoot handguns.

Surprising no one has mentioned the Chilliwack Fish and Game Club. I am a recently new member, but it has been absolutely fantastic.

They have outdoor ranges for archery, skeet shooting, black powder trail and rifle/handgun outdoors and also an indoor .22/pistol range.

All the people I have met have been extremely friendly and helpful and I couldn't be any happier. Membership is $120 for 16 months (a $30 initiation fee is required for new members) and it's free to shoot whenever (you need a $15 deposit if you want an magnetic key fob to get access when no one in around).

If you want to bring guests, no problem...they only need a $10 insurance fee and good to go.

Great range, great people....can't be beat. A little off the beaten track, but well worth the drive, believe you me!

I was just gonna say, yeah I'm from Chilliwack Fish and Game Club, people are always friendly, helpful if you ever needed help to improve your shooting (if so desired).
and like Blurr[SOAR] said, lots of area to shoot from.
Though the rifle range is only 200 meters.
(if you want to shoot 800+ meters use the woods) :D or if you're lucky enough to head up to General Vokes Range.

I a member at the abbotsford fish and game club and love it
best part is they own the land and people around there are real good
They are in the process of spending alot of money to upgrade the indoor range to make it wcb compliant and nicer to shoot in though it nice now also ther are plans to add 2 more outdoor ranges
right now the only problem is customs has it every week day till 3:30
I've shot at lot of local ranges and this range is on it's way to the top with these range improvement
and there still the cheepest range to be a member at I think

Chilliwack Fish and Game

Yeah the CFGPA has a electronic property gate and electronic access system everywhere, so there are no bad things happening.
The gun club has video surveillance and there is a great amount of experienced members to help everybody out.
At this club we feel safe and secure, no gang bangers here and club members come first, not the almighty dollar.
If you bring a guest it is ten bucks, and be sure to register them as they check the fob system and cameras to be sure for insurance reasons.
They are almost finished the IDPA shooting bays and the law enforcement will not shut down the range anymore, members are the key word and priority at the CFGPA.

A good sound club and solid member appreciation.
