Cabelas USA Sucks

Cabela's USA also ships everything UPS which means you're paying about 1/3 of the purchace price in Duty!!!!!!!!!!Harold

Not quite true. Cabela's uses their own Customs Broker so you pay the lowest duty and brokerage that you can. Ordering from Cabela's US is actually quite easy and cheap. They even charge GST at the time that you place your order, so the price you pay Cabela's is the only price. No extra fees from Canada Post or UPS!

Why does anything that comes UPS from the States cost so much. I ordered a $100 book several years ago. It was shipped UPS to Canada. Paid $15 shipping.

Got a call from the UPS drop off in Brandon. Total UPS fees for my package.........$116. How I could buy and item and have it shipped for less than this is beyond me. Like Canada Post, I hate UPS Canada with a vile hatred.

UPS in Canada is a bigger rip off than having Liberals in power.

Maye phoning the order in would work better for you as opposed to using the web site.

Also, two options exist for eliminating brokerage. First, if you are near a border, get a US mail handling company to receive it and go pick up.

Second, if it ships via UPS, get the tracking number from the seller asap, and call UPS with the tracking# and tell them you will clear it thru customs yourself. You will need to pickup the paperwork from the UPS depot when they receive the shipment, take it to the closest Customs office and declare it and pay taxes. Then take the clearance paperwork back to UPS and they will release your goods.

Around here the UPS depot is pretty close to the customs office, so it works for me. YMMV.

i got my RCBS rock chucker supremem master kit today from Bass Pro USA!!! 279.99 usd + 75.15 usd(shipping, handling, GST, PST) plus I got a 20$ credit!

It's their brokerage charges. I believe FedEx may charge a little less for brokerage but you pay more for shipping so it's still expensive. USPS is the only way to go, or, as suggested, if you are near the border, have the order sent to a courier depot on the US side (such as Ship Happens just across the border here at Sumas, WA) and go over and clear it yourself.

That's just BS plain and simple.

I place 7-8 orders a year from Cabela USA each year - and have done so for the last 4 or 5 years - and NONE of the orders have been shipped UPS. Duty only applies to items not made in North America and Cabela's brokerage fees are about the lowest in the industry.

I don't recall exactly what the charges were for but I bought a pair of boots from Cabelas on sale for $70 and by the time my credit card bill came in they were almost $150. I'm done mail ordering from Cabelas US unless I can't find it in Canada and absolutely have to have it, it's just too expensive.

The Duty and brokerage fees came from Quebec and I'm in AB! You can double the price of the goods by the time you're done being raped........................Harold

usa dealers cannot sell firearms, firearms components or ammunition or ammunition components to nonresident aliens (canadians) without an export permit reloading tools are not included . i live close to the border the us border patrol and the ATF has a small booth located just before the canadian customs and they stop traffic coming into canada if you have any of the before mentioned items they seize them also if the american police stop you they can seize them as well

i've found the easiest thing to do is ship to a place like Ship Happens, just across the border. they recieve packages, and charge a small handling fee. the email and call when your package has arrived, and you go across and pick it up. nice and easy and you avoid all the BS shipping costs.

I also called Cabela's to order a Hornady L&L and the told me it was a restricted item for export and so were the die sets, but I could buy the shell plates....I called Bass pro and they shipped it for me with no problems...:)

That's funny. I called on friday because I'm still waiting for BP to aprove the price match and the lady at Calbelas checked a bunch of iteams and said dies were fine.

I also sent a price match fax to bass pro, the guy told me that he thought that it would be price adjusted and shipped by tuesday, I guess time will tell... How long have you been waiting?

Hi CGN members,
This is my first post here.
There is something wrong in this picture. I ordered a LEE 50 Anniv. pkg. last fall from Cabelas USA and it was sent no problem or questions. However, when it came to ordering quick release collars for the dies, they said they were restricted.??? Why, I don't know yet. Phoned Lee Precision and they said it's not restricted. That's cool I thought. Now why would Cabelas make up B.S. about this. I tried to order a smithing hammer and punch set and it was restricted. So, I ordered a different set that wasn't from the same page. ????? :onCrack:I think they make up they're own rules as they want too. :

JM2C's ;)

I just went through a similar scenario, I ordered a Lee Turret Press, dies, tumbler, etc, all shipped no problems. A couple of weeks ago I called to order a Deluxe Turret Press, they told me it was restricted. I asked her to check my very last order and see for herself that I had already received a Turret Press along with other reloading supplies. I asked of there may be a mistake and she began arguing with me with absolutely no knowledge, she actually stated at one point that rifles shoot farther than handguns, hence the restriction??? At this point I asked to speak with anyone else, she told me that no one would have anything different to say. After a couple of minutes another guy came on the phone with an attitute telling me it's my Country that has all these restrictions and he doesn't know why we won't let anything in. At that point I told him that I was done with them and hung up.
