Magazine spring for remington 760 gamemaster

I had the same problem with a Browning mag. I had a part number for the spring, and even one for the rivet but couldn't buy one anywhere. You'll likely end up buying a new mag, the good news is they are easy to find.
 
That has never been supplied as a separate part as far as I'm aware.
I've tried modifications to other springs with marginal success but you are quickly beyond the value of a brand new mag assembly.
Best option is to buy another mag.
 
Good advice and I do have extra mags, but I didn't want to dispose of a freshly re-blued mag (it was done with the rifle).

This morning I pulled out a mag spring from a 98 mauser. It looked identical to the remington mag. So I gave it a whirl and it fit 100% without any modification to the spring. So, I guess I'll be on the lookout for a 98 spring. Should be easy to find one.
