Pretty much like the topic states, can they be called? I'm going to try my hand at a hunt this fall in Eastern Ontario. Not sure what strategy I'll use (or even what firearm - I have a 12 gauge and a 17HMR).

Funny you should ask this.

A couple years ago, I was hunting up north and one of the tires was starting to go flat at the camp. I brought out a little foot-operated pump to put some air into it, and the crazy thing was squeaking everytime I worked it into motion. I heard a noise in the bush in front of me, causing me to stop and see what it was. There was a partridge, sitting up in a spruce branch, watching me. Of course, I went over and popped it, but it served as a reminder as to how stupid those birds are....called in by a squeaky air pump.

I just got home a few min ago from a grouse hunt 2day at CFB Wainwright. It was not the best day of hunting tho. we only got one bird.

This is an interesting topic. Levi are u serious ?

Ive hunted grouse often but never knew i could call em to make a response.

I can make a sound with a half a can of beans that'll attract bull moose! You have to eat it 2 or 3 hours ahead of time, though....grouse, I'm not so sure about.

I've also head that if you do the motions of the "chicken dance" it also enhances the effect of the call.. brings them right in..

Ah yes, the strut, gotta watch for atv's , not to get run over..during the larger circles.

that's interesting
I was just thinking about the subj recently.
The thing is in Russia local grouse is hunted with a call.

Ruffed Grouse (Bonasa umbellus) is close relative of Russian one (Bonasa Bonasia).

Here are some pics
