Hi,
I have seen some Restricted and Non-Restricted M1 Carbine .30 caliber on EE.
What is the difference between the two?

Thanks!

Original WWII make M1 Carbines will all be restricted. There were post-war versions with longer barrels I believe, and aftermarket as well.

"...There were post-war versions with..." Iver Johnson made some with 19" barrels around 1978 or '79. Not many though. The current IJ does not have anything to do with the old company.

i recently purchased one that was non restricted because at some point a piece of pipe was added to the end of the barrel.it looks ugly but at least its non restricted. lol

actually

IT IS restricted now

they changed the rules and a barrel extension is NO longer legal

so your rifle is classed wrong and you could get in trouble for useing it as a non restricted when it is not

amazing that being an inch or so shorter, the same rifle is now an EVUL BABY KILLING MACHINE!

We should all be grateful to the politicians for protecting us from these nasty things.:puke:

With great pomp and much display
The politician's corpse was laid away
While all around danced and sang
I cried, for I had wished to see him HANG

really ? because i just recently purchased it from frontier firearms in Prince Albert Sask and i have the papers that say it is a non restricted firearm

i recently bought the carbine from a gun store here in sask and i have the papers to say it is non restricted. im not sure how i got around those rules but i just bought it maybe a month ago and im sure its non restricted. now on my carbine the extension can not come off. is it maybe a problem when you can take the extension off ? is that the issue ?

It was changed to specify that the extension doesn't count as extra barrel unless it has rifling... so welding a 3" flash hider onto a 15.6" barrel does not make a 18.6" barrel.
