I just picked up a mint Mark 1 & have a few questions I dont have alot of experience with 22lr.First what are is the range on cartriges, any brands to avoid? what is the maximum realistic range for target shooting? I have several larger guns 9mm to 44 mag but wanted a cheap mouth to feed LoL thanks in advance for your help
 
I've always had good luck with American Eagle. Here is a link to their website which has some good info and charts on ballistics. I have also found Winchester to be extremely dirty by comparison. YMMV.

The 50 target is an interesting place to do either. :yingyang:
 
When it comes to round types, it all depends on your gun, test out many brands, 22's most of the time (not all, but all of mine were) are really picky with ammo types, realistically 100 yards is still pretty accurate with 22lr.
 
My ruger MK1 is pretty fussy when it comes to ammo. Hollow point doesn't feed as well as solid and it likes the high velocity type to cycle better
