UTV's and Side by Sides....any thoughts?

It can fit in the box. Its tight but it does. Its just like a rhino. No wider or anything. I bought mine from a kawi/polaris dealer. I considered the Ranger but they are 4" wider stock and i just didnt like the big bulky look. I really do like the fact that they have a huge box on them but its to big for me. Plus the bench seat, when that puppy gets wet its like a slip and slide. I would go to a dealer or 2 and look at them and take them for a little test drive. See which one works the best for your needs. I went with the teryx just for the main fact that i had over 5000km on my old 750 brute force and not 1 problem(besides maintance) with the engine. But like i said, go to the dealers and take each one for a ride around the parking lot.
 
y not buy a mini truck? this is what i use 660cc 4x4 and you can drive it on the streets (o ya and sell for 5000-8000)

You have to be careful though. Some will not warranty them. I know some guys who have had this problem. Even though its from north america, they have the right to refuse as it was not a vehicle made for canada. There is some fine print. The savings can be worth with though. i could have saved close to 4k on my teryx, but i bought local and they have taken care of me so far.
 
The rhino and the teryx are what the guys run around here. They seem to go everywhere a quad can go. You can not go wrong with a side by side.

Has anybody used a bad boy bugy?
 
We've had a couple Polaris Rangers here at work and our latest is the 700. Even with the 700, they sure don't have much power. If you want lots of giddy-up-n-go, I'd pick a Rhino. But the Ranger does have the bench seat which is pretty nice for lots of getting on/off while doing chores. Which ever you choose, WEAR A HELMET!!! On the news today (Sept 13) a local man died of head injuries when he & another fellow rolled their UTV. Again...no helmet was worn. Now another family has to go through an agonizing time for no good reason...:(

The Polaris dealers DO NOT have the right to refuse warranty work because the vehicle was purchased in the US. The warranty's are covered anywhere in North America...that's what a North American warranty means. You can call Polaris and ask them, and if they find out about those sort of practices they hammer the offending dealers quick...any dealer that tells you they won't service anything bought in the US is playing with fire. Polaris sets the rules for their dealers, the dealers don't get to pick and choose. Any upstanding dealership and Polaris will tell you the exact same thing.
 
Good to know as I'm only a short drive from the border as well. I'll check with my local dealers first just to make sure everything is cool. The money you can save on big stuff like this is crazy!

Thats weird. My buddy bought a rzr-s in arizona and it was only 2 months old/used. had 200 miles on it.He took it in to get some work done(broken axle) and they told him no cause he bought it in the states. They said if you want warranty that he should have bought a unit in canada and that they would honor the warranty. Ill let him know about that as he didnt fight with them as he just wanted it back. I know kawi doesnt honor over boarder vehicles. But i guess 4k buys alot of warranty.lol Thats what i think anyway.
 
just buy a suzuki samurai they're the same size, the suzuki is more capable and you can drive it on the street. power wise they would be fairly comparable, plus there is more aftermarket suport for suzukis and they are a cheaper purchase.


around here utvs wont fit on 80% of the quading trails and i kinda hope it stays that way
 
I have a buddy that has a Polaris ranger....

Everytime I ride in it I want to sell my 2 quads and get one.

The only draw back is the width is tight on trails and cab can get hung up on trees if your in tight corners.


He has winch mounted on receiver hitch that goes in front or back.

Lots of people cuss Polaris for breaking down lots but it is like the saying goes...

If it has tits or tires sooner or later your gonna have problems with it...


I don't abuse my machines and knock on wood I haven't had a major breakdown on my quads yet...:wave:
 
I briefly thought about the Ranger until our company bought a few to test on site.They did well at first,but after several months the breakdowns started,and things have gone downhill ever since.They seem to be in the shop more than out of it.You do have to realize though, that our rangers probably run as much in a month as most others do in a year.Still,they just aren't reliable.

I owned a samuria. Trust me the Kawi teryx was cheaper in the long run. It seemed like every time i took that thing out it was breaking(they are fun though). They also are not that cheap to fix. I know guys ask like 600 for a tcase and once i lifted mine it seemed like i broke one every month. If i was you, stick with a UTV. And they will fit on most ATV trails. They are only 3-6Inchs wider. The RZR is the same a quad. Id stick with the UTV over a sami unless you are going to leave it stock and never do anything to it.

thanks FS. i'm looking for a diesel for the low end torque for hauling stuff and Kubota seems to have nmost of the bugs out from what I can tell. they are pirvey though. I looked at new ones & I could almost buy a year old 4x4 half ton pickup for what they list at.
 
I can chime in ... ive owned 3 atvs over the past 5 years... first honda...2001 foreman 450... bought it used with high kms.... reliable other than..... electric shift kept freezing inthe winter... choke cable kept freezing and was a ##### to start... drums brakes filled with .. sold!
05 650v2... lots of power and fun but belts kept plowing.. choke cable was a POS ... carb was messed..
Just bought an 06 Polaris 500x2 EFI... so far its been GREAT !

in our hunt camp we have 2 Rangers for the past 3 years... THESE ARE THE BEST MACHINES IVE SEEN...haul everything .. start always(EFI) amazing carrying 3 guys comfortable .. gear.. game... id recommend them to anyone

I sell both the Kubota and Bobcat. Buy the Kubota if you want a diesel unit. It will last a long time. We have these machines everywhere and they have over 6000hrs on them and still going.
 
Jason from McKinney Creek Adventures in BC shot an elk two days ago and posted this on HuntingBC of his elk and his Ranger...I think it pretty much ends all discussion. That my friends, is a 6x7 elk, whole, trussed up, in the box.

Room AND power my friend...Plus he was about 20km (this is from memory so don't quote me) from his place and drove it all the way there. There is a an explaination on HuntingBC of how he got it in there, but I believe he rigged up a block and tackle on a tree, a portable tree winch on the roll cage and then hoisted him up, then when it was high enough backed the Ranger up while maintaining tension on the winch..and presto...one piece elk in your Ranger bed
