Hello well I just passed my CORE exam after 3 days of torture. 1 wrong. The most important thing I learned is how little I know. My plan is to go with my more experienced buddies and just come along. Should I go for a tag or just leave the rifle at home and watch. Cheers

By all means get some tags, you'll learn more by doing than watching. If someone does get something see that you fully participate in the dressing of the animal,it's easier to remember if your the one doing it rather than watching.Pretty soon you'll be dressing out a moose by yourself and showing other newcommers the ropes.Good luck.

Take the rifle to the range and sight it in, if you haven't done that already. Get in some good practice, so that you will be confident in your abilities when you have a shot. FS

What's 'CORE'? Is it like the old hunters safety courses?

Conservation and
Outdoor
Recreation
Education

All BC hunters need to take this course (or challenge the test) and pass it before being given a certificate from the BCWF (BC Wildlife Federation) than you then take to the government building to get your Hunters Number Card.

Oh. Sounds like the system they're bringing in in the Flatlands too.

xwhatever on getting out with a rifle.

Sight the gun in, sight it in again. Talk to your buddies about their plans, then get into it. I started last year and the learning curve was huge, but also a lot of fun. It's dangerous though... you'll get badly hooked.

Thanks guys, thats what I was thinking. Now to get rid of some oldies (milsurps) and get some hunting guns. I'll press the Browning Bar into action and sight it in well, and dust off the win97 or 1400 and get in with the guys that do it. Then put away the ARs, SKSs, M14s, M1, and a few other toys for the fall and start a new hobby. LOL I'll be running that test down to BCWF as soon as I can, right after I remortgage the house. Cheers
