On the recommendations of other CGN'ers, I am considering getting a Norinco. I love 1911's, so i'm considering the 1911A1 Sport model, with the full length guide rod, extended mag release and whatnot in .45ACP. Have not yet decided whether I will get the blued or two tone.
Will standard 1911 parts fit? If I wanted to upgrade something later on say, or change the grips, etc? Anyones expriences with this pistol would be appreciated as well. Also, will aftermarket mags for 1911's fit? Such as the Mec-Gar 10 round that Marstar has?
 
All 'in spec' 1911 parts will work on the Norinco, EXCEPT: the grip screw bushings (screws are fine, it's the outside thread on the bushings that's different). As far as anything else goes, the only other thing to remember is that the frames and slides are HARD, as in; much harder than other 1911 frames and slides, because they're made of tool steel. This means if you ask for hand cut checkering you may not get it, and depending on the equipment that the 'smith has you may or may not be able to get sight dovetails cut. Parts interchangeability in 1911's is a bit hit-and-miss and some parts may need minor fitting, but that's the same for Colt or anyone else too.
 
Howdy, I bought the 2 tone a couple weeks ago and tried it for the first time a couple days ago.
Everything worked just great, not much kick and at 25 yards knocked the 6 metals plates over in fairly rapid fire on the second clip.
Had trouble with the mags sticking, took the mag release out and it was solid grease and crap.. Bought two american made mags at a gun show on Saturday and they just fall out now. One of the original falls out and the other still only drops about 1/4 way?

Howdy again, I put some pachymar wooden grips with rubber finger inserts-fit perfect and looks just great.
Even the rangemaster at the club commented on the looks and as was mentioned before take your time putting the grip screws back in. Later
 
The new series Norc 1911A1's, both full size and commander, are decent value for the money... :cool:

No, both came with the new style plain black checkered rubber.

Both also came with the extended slide stop which I have replaced with standard ones.

The trigger in the compact model was replaced with a McCormick adjustable. I also have one to go into the other one, too.

And since the pic I have also changed out the big mag release button on the top one for a standard one, too.

For me those are the only "mods" or upgrades that these 1911's require.
