Scope... well ok you've got me there. 230 shipped. But put a rail on every rifle and you only need to buy the one scope.
And if you can't get a 3inch grouping at 100m then you need more day's on the range, what? do you think the Soviets were going for a musket?
Plus, buy the ammo in bulk and its about 15cents a round.
Thats IS a priceless rifle when its under 500$ and you can shoot it for free!

dmitri i want this stock to let me know was it the shorter one from sks man or the regular size one....
i dont want the one with the lower hand gaurd that overlaps the gas tube one.

Put a protective sleeve on the scope. Could be a piece of neoprene tube used for bike handles or a length of pipe insulating foam if you don't need something fancy for your hunt.

#### Dimitri, to bad you're not on the left coast. I'd like to see whos SKS has the better grouping. I'm surprised that you paid 380 for an SKS. aside from that I think we spent similar amounts at the end of the day though. If you find yourself in Vancouver you drop me a line and I'll take you out to the range man. I love that choate stock. I might replace mine, although I doubt that either helps accuracy better or worse.
I'm not deriding anyone for what they add to their SKS type rifles but I'm seeing a lot of receiver cover scope mounts. I just can't see them being at all accurate past 100m. Try taking the spring out of the back of the bolt and remounting the cover and you'll find its loose as all hell. I tried this system briefly before going to the expense of a posp mount and I blame the bad rap the SKS has for poor shot placement on these mounts. There's nothing wrong with those mounts but if you want performance you can get it if you just shell out a couple extra bucks. Don't look at it as wasting money on a cheap rifle, look at it as getting a great deal on a very basic platform that you can then make into a real precision rifle.

yeah... you dont have to many options with the D.... but you get to enjoy the
proper detachables...
they probably dont jam on you like the duckbills do....hey the sks was brand spanking new.... for 325, from Weimajack...+tax+siping

I'm not saying that you got a raw deal man. It's just that I don't feel that unissued equals 150bux more accuracy. And the I have to say that I do prefer the cover mount to a red dot scout scope setup. Tried that one too. Where did you get that choate from. I was thinking of moving my stock down the line to a friend if I can get a choate for the right price. ( Don't tell the wife... shhhh ) lol

It's always fed well, mind you I haven't put many rounds through it. I've got quite a few rifles and this one seldom comes out of the safe. Bought a crate of ammo for it, still has the seal. Thought about letting it go and buying another M14
no unissued doesn't nesseserily make it more acurate, but it will have 150bux less scratches and wear
se if SKSman got the stocks... if not let me know... i might know another place
As for scout mounts... i think they are more for modern style weapons.... SKS needs more of a classic ....Dragunov style perhaps...
