New looking for Ar 15

Hey guys, have hunted all through my teen years, and have recently got a little more into sport shooting. I'm 20 now, just got my restricted, and I'm looking to buy an ar 15. This possible up coming election is pushing me pretty hard towards the gun, because it looks like we might see a ban on hand guns and semi autos if the liberals get their way. Anyway, everywhere I have called is only selling them commercially (police depts etc). Anyone know where I can get one of these in southern ontario? I'm not too picky on the gun, just want something simple. Thanks for your help guys! take it easy.

Check the Exchange of modern military firearms forum. Mind you AR's are a range only firearm these days. Have fun.

says its private. Doesnt look like I can access the section.

Hi Jared McC; you may have to apply to the moderator for authorization to the EE forums; there are other forums on CGN which you have to apply for, so check the headings of these forums for info.

Epp's is listing a DPMS for $1806.88. Three 14.5" Bushmasters at $1679.99. And a used Colt 20", H-Bar, in 'Very Good' condition, for $1649. That'd be the one I'd grab. It being a target rifle. Restricted just the same though.
Marstar is listing a used Colt, supposedly an H-Bar, in 'Excellent' condition at $1200. No mention of what come swith it. Mags, etc.
Goble's, in London and Tillsonburg, may have one or two Bushmasters. Their site is poorly done, but I'm sure I've seen AR's in there.
Call Shooter's Choice, in Waterloo, as well.

If you do find a used Colt scoop it up! The supply of full Colt AR15s for the civilian market in Canada is relatively non-existant. All we can get are parts!

That said, I'd take a look at the EE or the forum sponsors.

Welcome to the forum! Not sure there's an election coming any time soon, but you're probably right about semi-automatics in general if the Liebs get in. Check out EE black rifles section once you're installed on the exchange forum. I may post a pedigree AR (DLASK Arms) there soon for what I paid for it ($2K.....the father was MRCLARK, not sure who the mom was but she's probably still in pain)

"...supply of full Colt AR15s..." More than you'd think. The AR has been on the market and available in Canada for a very long time. The H-Bar has been out for 30ish years. Long before there was anything but Colts. Big bucks for the time. Less than a grand Cdn for an H-Bar, when they first came out(early 80's. Ontario's minimum wage in 1980 was $3 per hour. Hit $5/hr in 1990.). You had to have the bucks. Forget when the AR was taken off the restricted list(originally put on in 1978ish) before it got put back on.

Hi JaredMcC; I just talked to John at Shooters Choice in Waterloo, and they have two
Bushmasters - a shorty at $1695 and a regular length one at $1895 - both .223s.
They also have a Remington variant also, but it is in .308. I've bought a bunch
of stuff at Shooters Choice, and they are pretty good to deal with. Just spoke to
them a few minutes ago - their number is 519-746-8139.
And good plan to ask for permission to access the Equipment Exchange site. There
are always guys selling AR-15 variants there. The original Colt AR-15 is very nice.
I had one with a little 4x Colt scope, and it was a real nice piece of technology.
Sold it cheap several years back, and I've regreted doing it ever since.
- Rus.
