Regulations aside, how do you feel about wearing orange when out hunting from a safety standpoint?

I usually try to wear an orange hat or orange gloves. Have you ever felt that you probably should have been wearing it?

i dont wear orange while hunting, but thats mainly because i dont want other people seeing me. kinda opposite of how most think, but i like a low profile while hunting and have had people walk by within spittin distance many times.

the orange doesnt spook deer at all so i dont see why some are against wearing it during the shotgun hunts:confused:

i don't mind wearing orange, i wish we could wear it in a realtree camo blaze orange, just to help break up my outline a little better.:(

I hunted during the years where orange is not required. Ran into and talk to some guys about seeing any deer movements. Some of them actually said they took at a few sound shots...that is shoot at some sound in the bush and go see what hey hit.

So I think wearing orange is a good idea. Hunting in a private area is no guarantee of safety since some people will stray into private areas by accident or knowingly.

Someone came onto my land and tear down my private property sign last year during deer season. This way they can claim they didn't see any posted signs.

Orange hat always. Orange jacket and hat when required in Ontario and head to toe in Saskatchewan when I have been there for deer. I don't think it's ever prevented me from seeing any wildlife but I can tell you that it has kept some strangers away from me when on crown land ie: orange means he's probably armed.

My Avatar not withstanding.

Hat and vest, while hunting or walking the bush in the fall.

Heck, I even wear a viz vest when I go to change targets at the range.

Can't see the harm of it but lots of benefit.

I'm scared about some of the people I've seen out there.. Idiots who just shoot at anything..

if I'm moving in the field (public or private) I'm wearing orange vest/hat.. once I'm at my post I remove it, but put it somewhere nearby that can be seen.

as I put it.. what does it matter to me, if the shooter gets 10 year, but I'm 6 feet under ;) I'd rather prevent it from happening in the first place..

I wear orange if hunting rabbits, moose or grouse. If I am hunting in an area with ptarmigan and some ponds where stalking ducks is an option I will just wear an orange hat and camo clothes and swap out the hat for a camo one as necessary.

I wear it if hunting. Perhaps not the full coverage unless it's required by the regulations but I always wear some. The only time I won't bother is if I am duck hunting from a blind.

During deer hunting season I wear some orange if I'm in the bush whether I'm hunting or not. I also won't wear anything white. Too many idiots out there that will shoot at anything particularly a white flash in the trees.

I wear orange so that I am seen by hunters AND non hunters alike wherever I am. That way they know what I am up to and they are more comfortable with what I am doing. I always assume there are people around, no matter how isolated the area I am in.

If dudes are going to shoot at "sounds", orange ain't going to do jack.

It is unfortunate that there are guys who use their scopes for bino's and others who are so moronic that they shoot before they identify their target and what is behind it. I minimize my risk by hunting in low traffic areas and never on weekends(unless on private property). I've been scoped when I used to wear blaze so now I hope to avoid those eyes all together.

I've got no problem with our regs that require orange here. Sometimes its handy to know where your buddies are as you can see them through the trees for quite some distance or across a mile of field and into the bushline.

Wearing high vis orange is one of those safety rules I don't mind at all. If I'm on the ground I want others to be able to see me. Just might prevent me from stopping a bullet. Its also a good thing to be able to see others.:)

Vest & hat ( compliance ) no problem ... and a very good idea.
Both big game and upland hunting. Waterfowl/crow& varmint hunting ... camo.

Can't see dressing up head to toe like a giant neon orange "creamsicle" though !
