Just wondering if anyone in Manitoba knows of any good spots (old quarries, etc.) close to Winnipeg that would be suitable for target shooting with a rifle (ideally 1-300 yds). I do know of a couple spots north of the city, but I'm pretty sure these are technically private property.
I'm basically just looking for somewhere I can shoot and not be bothered.

Along the same lines, if anyone knows of a good rifle range close to Winnipeg that'd be great.

I’m not sure what you consider close to Winnipeg but I always went to Sandy lands and that’s straight east on the #1. It’s around an hours ride. I also did some target shooting around the Reynolds pond area and that is also straight east on the #1 as well. It’s also closer but shooting out to 300 yards might be stretching it. I was a member at the Selkirk range. It’s a well organized club but you can only shoot out to 200 yards...

Anyone else know some other good spots for shooting clay?

>Seddons Corner, 10 mins east of Beausejour has good places in the old pits.
>Agassiz forestry out hwy 15 to fire guard 13 has many good places, as does Sandilands Forestry.
>And here's the closest one to Wpg, perhaps your best bet. Out hwy 15 to 302, go south to the first hydro lines, go east down the lines, take the first right, there are a bunch of spots against the gravel banks, the longest one is 364 yrds. It's where the bomb squad blows up cars and things, for practice! Happy shoot'en.

Thanks. Are these places all legal for shooting, or more just generally accepted by the people in the area?

Selkirk game and fish is a really nice club for the membership fee's, but the fact a pistol club adds 50 to the original fees upsets me. Brandon wildlife and pistol club only adds 5 dollars ontop of the regular membership for a pistol club card... Either way Im a member at both and both are nice ranges to shoot at. Thanks for the tip on the one off 302, never knew that spot before and its soooo close to me its not even funny. Second rant against selkirk is that membership takes FOREVER to come back to you, its like getting an AR15 in Quebec, and if you have any questions or concerns there is no way of calling any staff, you can only contact through mail as they dont answer the phone numbers given or return messages left on the machine, not trying to slag them i love the club, but they could work on their PR a little bit.:)

No offense, but the idea is to renew before the old membership expires.

Went to check this place out yesterday. Great spot. Will be using it a ton! Thanks.

my issue was more the fact that the CFO could not find any record of my pistol membership, and when I renewed(paid in full for both clubs rifle and pistol) my little piece of paper for the RCMP wasn't there. Every try getting a hold of them, they do NOT return messages, hardly return emails, and take so long to reply to regular mail you wonder if they even got your letter. Now I love the place, the open concept, and the people I meet I wasn't trying to slam the club I was simply venting my frustration. That whole CFO shenanigans held up my first pistol purchase for over 5 months...
