yesterday i found a older browning takedown .22 it has ejection on bottom and its tube fed.really good condition...shiny bore. anyone here has any idea what this rifle is actually worth? i like it but i think the store is asking a bit much...
are they a good rifle?
please advise

If Japan, can still be a old gun made from 1975 on
Condition means everything ,
Blue book price FN $250. to 725. _60 to 100%
Miroku 140 - 445.oo
Is it blue , grade one or silver , grade 2-5? That make huge difference.

it is blued....finish is really good. im not a pro to grade it but i would say 90% 0f it is there. wood is all original as well.
thank you for this.. i think the price is not bad in this case...they asking around $350
is it a good gun? what should i be looking for to see if it has any trouble?

I have the norinco clone and love it. The browning version must be sweeeet!
Not sure what to look for without being able to load and fire it....you mention its fairly loose...it should tighten up pretty snug.
Click the lock button down (so it leaves the forestock), pull back on the bolt about a half inch and turn the forestock/barrell clockwise (90 degrees) to take it apart. Then turn the threaded knob at the breech end of the barrel counter clockwise (I think) a few clicks and put it back together to see if the barrell tightens up.

350.00 is a good buy if it is in the shape you say it is.FS

Mine doesn't have any original serial number on it. Someone made one up under the barrel, assuming for registration purpose. What do you mean it has a circle with a cross on it?

I just got back to your post, $ 350.oo is a o.k. price, these always
are pricey guns if they are the F.N. ones, front sight would not be a big deal to fix. I would offer 325.00 as is and see what happens,
Check the wood for any cracks .

Some have serial number around the mag tube in the butt. Can look up serial number/age on Browning site and download manual. Great little rifles. Have an elastic with you though. You'll figure out why when shooting off hand.

Cryptic blather.

Do speak plainly please.

I've shot several of the Norinco clones, and shot a Browning one a LOT as a kid, and about the only thing that bears watching for is the little part that can fall out if one is not careful stripping and assembling it. It's the interrupter that stops the ammo from attempting to scoot out of the tube all at once. It's in the top of the receiver shell.

If it is getting loose at the barrel joint, adjust the ring around the barrel breech end, back a notch or two, to cause it to tighten up correctly when it's brought into alignment with the locking button.

Ahhhh.

Nope. Never had a problem with it.

Good gun for the folks that have a lefty amongst the herd of offspring, or a lefty girlfriend.

He's referring to warm ejected casings falling down the sleeve of your jacket/shirt.
watch out for hot brass down your sleeve is what he means to say:)
Its the secret handshake of the Browning SA owners - the brass casings falling out of the sleeve.

Cryptic blather.
Apparently not that cryptic. Blather, wow big word - that mean posting about having "a LOT" of experience with these and being one of the club but not knowing the secret handshake? :p

It depends what are planing to do with this rifle. The only good think about it is take down option. You can put it in your back pack, otherwise it is not a precision rifle. I just bought CIL 190 by Anschutz with pip open sites. It shoots 1" at 50 yards. If you need precision rifle, get bolt Anschutz or CZ-452 (price is around $450-500)
