Just to reiterate.. ( I had a *lot* of dumb questions when I first got into this..),
the .38 is not prohibited. And a nice way to get some value for your shooting dollar, is
to get a .357 magnum when you get your restricted PAL. Consider a Ruger Redhawk
or a Smith and Wesson of some vintage (others will be able to fill you in on which S&W
is to be recommended, or perhaps something else? - I really only know the Rugers).
But with a .357 magnum, you can shoot .38 special (which is quite a bit cheaper), if
you want to lighten up a bit, after blasting away with your .357 magnum rounds.
The .357 mag will chamber the .38 special rounds, which are noticably lighter in recoil,
and still lots of fun to shoot. The main thing is to have fun.
