Hey guys, I am trying to feild strip my M14, and I am trying to get the trigger assembly out. I flip up the trigger guard and pull but it wont come free, Am I missing a step? I am about to take a screw driver and try and pry it out.... but I want to know If that is a bad idea... any help would be great.

Yes I am watching this video.... but my trigger assembly does not easily just pop out. Its freaking stuck like it has a bolt or pin in it... it wont just lift out... I have tugged with alot of force and was worried of bending something. I was going to use a screw driver to pry up the plate... but I am worried this will #### it.

Mine was really latched in there with some strong force as well. I found taking a loop of paracord would allow me to pull on it enough to get the latch to disengage. Pull towards the buttstock and it should pop free then the trigger guard swings out. After that it's super easy.

its not the latch, its the trigger assembly itself. its like the whole thing is glued into the dam buttock its so tight. I am pulling and pulling and it wont come free. I have even tried a screwdriver and it bent it and put marks in the stock. Maybe the wood is swollen or something and making it stick...
had that problem on an old norc in the wood stock, the wood appeared to have swelled and trapped the trigger group.. i had to prise it out with a flathead screwing drive .. gently of course but it came out eventually.
THAT VIDEO IS WRONG- you clear it FIRST, THEN #### IT. THEN PULL DOWN ON THE TRIGGER GUARD- get that unlatched , pull out the trigger group , and then separate the barrel/action from the stock-you then go about monkeying with the gas assembly- same as the garand,
take a small piece of flat wood or flat plastic scraper and lie it behind the trigger group(where the trigger guard first flips down--to protect the wood stock).
take a small flat bladed screwdriver and place it in the rear of the trigger guard using the flat wood/plastic as a fulcrum/protection.
pry up in that notch where the trigger guard locks in place.

with it unlatched, it SHOULD SEPERATE easily- you may give the barrel a swat with the palm of your hand- it may be a bit sticky- what should happen is that with the buttplate resting on the floor, and a swat applied to the barrel with the right hand, the barrel should go down, forcing the receiver heel up and out of the stock( this works on garands as well)
and you pull the trigger group STRAIGHT OUT , not at an angle as you're looking at the BOTTOM of the rifle

I actually think it is fortunate to have a stone cold stuck trigger group.
Mine is bedded and it takes all effort in the world to take it out haha!
I don't field strip my gun because I don't wanna mess the bedding but when I did have to do it I tapped with a rubber mallet, GENTLY
Most of the time blunt pulling force wont do the job but gentle taps will make it free.

The first time I popped mine out, I needed a mini pry-bar.
I kidd you not.
Now it goes in and out with just moderate 'convincing'.

looks like your going to have to do a little wood work on the area around your trigger group.
