I FINALLY have the money to invest into a nice AR-15. I need to decide between a Stag or a Bushmaster.....which to you think is the over all better gun? For durability, accuracy and over quality. Price is not a BIG concern as long as it stays under $2,000.00 before taxes. I am learning more towards the Stag, the Model 2R or 2T.

Although I own neither....I am saving for one myself, and doing my background and research and asking questions ahead of time too....
Either or of the two you mention so far seem to be equal...I like the way the Stag feels.
Personally, to ensure under 2,000., you could consider building your own too.

I'm hoping to be able to buy a Dlask by spring. Maybe by Christmas if the Oil & Gas gets going. Crossing my fingers that this will be a profitable winter with lots of overtime that I can turn into things that go "BANG!".

Both are good makes of AR.
Also, Arms East and Wolverine are both great to deal with.
You can't go wrong either way.
That said, I have three and a half Stag-15s. My first was a model 2R 16" flattop and it sold me on Stag kit. I built up the other rifles myself.

I have owned (and shot) both of those makes of rifles. They were both good rifles in my experience. That being said I've pared the collection down to Colt and Stag. So my vote is for the Stag. Walter is also excellent to deal with if you go with Arms East.

Really depends on what you want? Most guys pimp out their AR's with after market triggers, better barrels, rails, grips, fancy stocks..etc A top of the line upper can cost you 2 g's and then there's sights, Electronics..ect. Next thing you know you sank 3 g's on a rifle that you can only use on a range.
I say, go get a basic A3 full size rifle with iron sights of any make. I never cared for shorty .223 carbines, for they are loud and annoying for near by shooters.
The difference between the Bushmaster and Stag is minimal, they're both good makes.

I've been doing the same research, though in my case I haven't even a penny saved towards it yet. I figure I'll do a better job if I have a specific model printed out and hung on the wall next to my monitor. I've looked at Stag, Bushmaster, Rock River and Imperial Defence... and still don't know which is the best bang for the buck.

Both are fine rifles but everyone company can make a dud once and a while.
Stag I believe is the commercial enterprise of CMT, a USGI contractor (I could be wrong). They have build to a higher standard than Bushmasters (Sorry, it's true) and have a good reputation. Bushmasters are not mil-spec and have a reputation of failing under harsh use (carbine classes, banged up in vehicles). Reports of having loose barrels and having the gas keys not staked properly are more frequent complaints of Bushmasters in the States. Having said that most Bushmasters are quite good.
If you want the best available get a Colt (but it's over $2000). They have MP (magnetic particle) and HP (high pressure) tested bolts and barrels. Their quality control is extremely high and therefore both expensive. They check every part and ensure that the keys are staked properly and barrels secured. Their commercial rifles are made using the same standards required by the US military. If one part breaks in a lot of rifles the whole lot is tossed. Rarely find a bad Colt.
CMMG provides higher quality at a lower price point. Their barrels are MP tested and they have a reliable reputation. You can get a variety of barrel weights from light to heavy (full auto rated) barrels.
Daniel Defense carbines available from Questar are fairly new but very high quality with MP tested barrels and bolts. I don't know if they are HP tested. They are known to be extremely reliable. Their basic carbine starts at $1900 but it beats the $2100 to $2300 price of a Colt carbine. It also comes with a PMAG which brings me to my next point.

I have a Bushmaster which I love. I was originally trying to get a Stag, but Arms East seemed to have fallen off the grid at the time, and I could not get hold of them. Hey life happens. No big. The Bushmaster became available and now it's been tricked out and I'm all

When I made my choice I opted for the Stag. Absolutely no regrets. I think it's a best buy.
Also the famous list on the internet isn't accurate. At least not for the Stag rifles we get at Arms East. There are a lot of "milspec" features on that list that show Colt etc with them, such as for example an H buffer. Well on the list the Stag doesn't have this. In reality when my Stag arrived from Arms East, well it had those options.

LMT's are very good. They are also under USGI contract and have to be made to mil-spec quality. They do not use the H buffer or parkerize under their front sight base. Not really a big deal if you get their MRP (monolithic rail platform) as you can use any option of rail mounted sights.
LMT and Colt are pretty much par as both meet government testing for their end users on the ground. So while I don't mean LMT they are extremely good.
In my experience, LMT's can be quite picky. LMT stuff works best and most reliably with other LMT components. Lots of guys down South found that creating Franken AR15s with mixed LMT parts (particularly their enhanced bolts) work best with LMT uppers and lowers.
That said if I had a chance to get an LMT MRP completely made by LMT I would not hesitate to use it in a carbine course and get it all banged up and dirty.
