having shot 9mm out of my Backpacker, your statement is pretty acurate...... if it wasnt for the bang, and the hole it put in the target, I wouldnt have known it did anything.

Ordered Tuesday morning and received it this morning (Friday in Toronto) via Canada Post. In my books that's fast and dealing with Frontier/Marlin is second to none!

x2 but i'm sure there are plenty of people with money to burn which is why these toys will sell.

Don't have money to burn but I like certain toys....don't know about the outlaw thread.
Does the twins meet the criteria of defensive weapons? Don't know about the rest of Canada but here in the GTA its against the law to defend yourself with a firearm(last time I checked)

This probably won't get anywhere near the attention of the Outlaw threads. I think the 3 who drove the anti-Outlaw bus, kind of got burnt out by the whole experience. They may pop in (one already has), but this one isn't nearly as high profile as the Outlaw, nor will it be nearly as popular. I also don't think Rossi's are made in China (not sure either way), so the red-haters won't be chiming in their 2 bits.
Personally, this one doesn't float my boat, but if it's everything you've ever dreamed of, then hey, have a blast. Life is too short to come on the internet and crap all over someone else's taste in firearms.

Actually, one's my buddy's. The Fabs are real nice but my fave is the Moss 590A1 20"bbl with GR sights and backbored/ported by TacOrd. I should get some pics of it

I think the useful feature is its light weight and ability to fit in a thigh or shoulder holster, therefore its allways on your body in the bush.

They just wanted to make the shotgun look as redneck as possible, because as we all know only rednecks need guns. Apparently we aren't as evolved as that bastion of culture, Hollywood.

- As self-defence is covered by the Revised Statutes of Canada, I rather doubt provincial or municipal laws have anything to do with it.
 
Cool..... Long before I was born my grandfather used to shoot pheasants with a pistol gripped 12" sawed off 410. Turned it in to the cops in the 60's but I still hear stories about his wing shooting with it. Kinda makes me want to own one of these.....
 
Alright...yet again...how does a single shot under 660mm get nonres status?

I accept that it is non-res, I just want to know why. As opposed to the T&C single shots with pistol grip, are they 'designed' to be a pistol, therefor restricted? What if I put a T&C pistol grip on a T&C rifle receiver with an 18" barrel?

I just don't get how any non restricted can be under 660mm.....(Dlask type shottie pistol grip 'grey area' not withstanding) Single shot or not.

There must be an answer other than "It is non-res cause I said so and CanAmmo said so and the internet said so!"
 
Look at the Boito .410 backpackers. Well under the minimum length, but because they were originally manufactured that way their perfectly legal. Take a file to the muzzle and shave off 1mm and their not. Makes perfect sense, doesn't it? :rolleyes:
 
It's not just for single shots. Look at the DLASK 870's and Grizzly shotguns. I think even the Ruger compact 77 is under length. The CFC powers that be have the ability to givith life or strikith down the legalities as they see fit...
 
I'm pretty sure the boito backpacker was 28" long(with a complete stock non less), well out side any grey area. The dlask area is definatly grey. But if these are being sold clearly under the 26" magic number, what the CFC's reasoning?

Those are easy though. We're not talking barrel length here, but OAL.

The M77 is easily over 26" OAL.

The Dlask shotguns are sold with the stock installed (over 26" OAL)and with a "factory supplied pistol grip". Whether or not using the supplied PG is legal is up to a court to decide one day.

The Grizz is also in the same boat if you use it with the PG. It is sold as over 26" OAL.

The Boito Hiker .410 has a 12 inch bbl. Using the barrel in the picture to help you measure out the other 12 inches... it is pretty easy to see that it equal to or greater then 26" OAL.

Its just that there is no "grey area" with the Rossi Backpacker. It is blatantly under 26" OAL.

I'm happy that there is exceptions to some of these rules, as it creates a precedence which can be used to bring in other interesting firearms.
