7 inch groups? WTF?

Fixed the sights, Re-crowned the snot out of it with a carraige bolt and lawnmower backlapping compound, and cleaned it repeatedly for several hours, and am happy to say my first 3 shot 80yd group since was inside 2" and up and over 1" off POA with the old canted irons. Im freakin amazed to say the least! I thought she was a gonner but the cat came back...

You sound like an experienced gunsmith, by Alberta standards.
Would you be free to build me a custom rifle from scratch????:p;):D

Next time use a brass round head bolt and some extra-fine Clover brand valve grinding compound, and it will shoot inside an inch! :D

Funny enough i used a brass carriage bolt. I read somewhere that the compound sticks to it better, but i will try a more rounded head bolt next. Now this clover valve lapping compound im going to look into, because the mower sharpening stuff may very well be alot coarser, im not actually sure of the grit though it's pretty fine. And since i do engine repairs at work i can probably right it off as a job expense and have my employer pay for it... Perfect!
Thanks for everyones input. If it weren't for gunnutz i would not have been able to restore her, let alone find er at all!
