Leupold VX2 or VX3

See if you can get a dealer who will let you take them both outside 5 minutes before dusk. Look at something 100-200 yards away. Ask yourself it that could be the difference between deer meat or McDonalds. You'll have your answer.

I think it's worth the extra money... but that's just my opinion. The only opinion that matters is YOURS.

Thanks for asking, been wondering that myself. I have never owned a VXIII but I can testify that their is a big enough difference for me between the VXI and VXII to spend the extra $$$$. I own both and was surprised at the difference. You can see earlier and later, and I also found what I was seeing to be much more "crisp" which is good because you can differentiate different objects better at long ranges. I also noticed going from a 40mm to a 50mm made quit the difference in lighting.

Don't rule out the Vari-X III's either....In my experience the glass in the vari's is actually superior to the VX's. I've heard that the glass supplier was changed with the switch-over to the VX's, but can't confirm. I do know that owning three of each, the Vari's look better. Kind of like the Elite 4200's..you can find Bausch and Lombe 4200's, whiich are way nicer thaan the bushnells....YMMV
