Finally took the plunge. It pretty much cost what I thought, though years ago you'd never of convinced me I'd spend almost/over $600 on reloading equipment (that's only one caliber)

I decided on the Hornady Lock n Load AP. I added on some of the required accessories and will start saving up again for the casefeeder and bullet feeder. (no small amount of money there either)

All of it is in the mail and on the way thanks to Bass Pro US and Sinclair's. Can't wait to get started. Thanks also to Acrashb for his review, JOJOPINTO and CanAm for suggestions and advice.

Now, I will have to go out and get some bullets.

Not sure what to do with my lee Turret press now, I was thinking of keeping it for rifle loads, though I don't forsee loading any rifle rounds except .223 in the future.

Congrats Onagoth you will not be disappointed in your purchase...The only down fall I have found so far is the vast amounts of time I speed in the basement reloading and the countless hours I spend looking for a good deal on componets...:D

Have look at Aim Projectiles for bullets I went to the plant and picked some up and saved a few bucks, the pricing was very good....

I've been buying from AIM since they started :)

Congrats!!!

Very good press. Try it without bullet and case feeders first and see if that's good enough for you. Then if you need them - spend the money.

I use mine without and it's good enough for me.

"...spend almost/over $600 on reloading equipment..." Look at the price of a Dillon.
"...saving up again for the case feeder and bullet feeder..." Look around for used kit. Takes a great deal of abuse to damage modern reloading kit. Don't know if you'll find it though.

The dillon XL650 wasn't that much more expensive, I think around $530 from Dillon, but their casefeeder is cheaper so it kinda balances out. Just decided after much deliberation to get the Hornady.

Don't let the Dillonites convince you that they have the market cornered on customer service. I broke my LNL primer punch by over tightening it (snapped the threads) and they sent me a new one no questions asked the next morning.

You wouldn't have gone wrong with either press.

Oh, I thought he had the 650, which isn't nearly as expensive as the 1050. I had no clue that the bullet feeder was so much money

I do have the 650. Bought everything new including an electric case feeder, low primer warning, powder check, three conversions kits & extra primer tubes.
As well, I've included the cost of my Lyman Turbo Auto-Flow tumbler & Lyman digital scale. Not sure, but the 1st 1000 .40 bullets and associated primer/powder costs may be in there as well....

Well, thats fairly pricey, I understand the tradeoff though, the primary reason I switched is because I value my time.

With kids coming into the picture shortly, I don't want to be in my basement for hours loading ammo.

Damn Peter ! This is the first honest assessment related to the cost of reloading I've read in yonks ! I just bought a progressive setup for $948.00, which I think was a heck of a deal but, like you, when I include the dies, scales, tools, gauges, bench, plastic brick-a-brack and all the other #### I've purchased in the interest of reloading it would top 2 1/2 grand no problem. I'm not complaining, them's just the facts.

Anyhow, you've got good stuff there that I'm pretty sure you've not overpaid for, nor will you ever regret buying. They sure don't give it away though do they :D.
