So here is a question for every one. I just picked up a 7mm WBY mag from Rembo in here and as well have a .340 WBY as well as a .460 WBY...as well as a 416 rigby,.458 etc etc...I have my cow moose draw this year and am wondering which rifle to use as my main rifle.

The .460 is coming along for the s**ts and giggles factor of a cow out to about 250 yards or so. After that...hmmmm...which rifle to use??

Discuss and enjoy!!!! 7mm or .340?? I have already slapped a bull moose with the .340 and it knocks em down real quick...do I tempt myself into using the 7 this year??

Here is my first moose -a -saurus....taken with the .340. And yes that is a house behind the pic but its actually just a summer cottage and I had full permission to be on the land. An it was the closest road to load up the moose....OMG....the pic was taken in 1997 and I look so 70 ish"1970 something that is!!! Since then I shaved the stashe off and my hair is a lot shorter...so save the remarks eh!!!:p

I've been thinking on going bigger(from 25-06) for a moose rifle as of lately. I did buy a 375 Ruger, but, it just wasn't my cup of tea. I got a line on a ruger in 7mmWSM, but if that doesn't pan out I am thinking 257 Weatherby.

Well by the sounds of it if your going to make a hole, you might as well make a big one!

I have lots of large cartridges for no real reason becides liking guns...Seem to always go back to the old faithful huntin guns like 7mm mags, 300wm, 270s, 308s, 30-06s..

well...if Tom Sellick/Jeff Foxworthy were to go hunting Moose they'd probably take the biggest, baddest thing they could find...so either go .460 or go home :D

I load up some 400gr X's for the 460 and push them to 2800,good to 400yds.But out of the 340 and 7mm,why not brake the 7mm in.

That's not just a 'stache - that's ####o-stache!

Where are you going to be hunting? East of the foothills, take whatever you want including that old 44-40 your grandpa left you. Anywhere those brown buggers with the long claws and sharp teeth are wandering around, I would take that 340 or bigger.

FWIW
My dads best friend goes moose hunting every year,
and has for as long as I've been alive.
He gets one more years than not.
His caliber of choice is .270 Winchester.
With proper shot placement you shouldn't need anything bigger.
If you just want something bigger though, thats totally up to you.
Enjoy.

We aren't saying Icehunter NEEDS a gun bigger than his 7mmWBY...we (I) just think it'd be sweet to see a report on the damage a boomer like the .460WBY or .340WBY would do...plus...if you can...why not? :D
