I made the mistake of allowing my daughter to try out my new Magpul grips on my Dlask. She noted that it fit her hand better than the Norc factory grips.

Never one to need a reason to spend more money on a hobby -- we elected to go the whole nine yards and grab the full Magpul MOE line of products to retrofit to the Norc. Canada Post ended up delivering a package that contained the MOE Handguard, Pistol Grip, and M4 style stock. NOTE - we went with the lower end MAGPUL products because I all ready had the higher end product on my Dlask and we wanted to go the cheap route in keeping with the Norcs heritage.

Fit and finish of the Magpul products is excellent (after a little tweaking - see below). I am always reluctant to spend money to replace plastic parts with more plastic parts. However, it has transformed the "feel" of the rifle from somewhat "cheap" feeling to that of "rock solid".

I'm especially impressed with the front handguard. Its triangular cross section has to be the best ergonomic design I've ever held in a firearm. The heatshield is attached to the bottom half but extend up into the top half - leaving just top portion of the top handguard without any heatshield. Since your fingers never need to go over the top the the handguard (which I use to do with the orginal factory handguard in order to grip the front of the gun properly) it is not an issue.

Note - not everything was roses. Rear stock has a couple of tight spots that I'll have to loosen up. I had to clip a couple of coils from the spring when installing the pistol grip as it locked the safety up solid when the mounting screw was tightend. Had to do some judicial filing of the bottom handguard at the front. Took some trial and error to get the fit just right but it is one tight handguard.

While not a drop in fit - anyone with a little gunsmithing skills can retrofit the MOE components to the Norc.

Makes for one handy, lightweight carbine that feels very nice when shouldering the firearm. As an added bonus, the triangular shape of the handguards allow my 10 year old daughter to grip the foregrip tight enough when racking back the charging handle. Her hands weren't big enough with the factory handguard and she would spend as much energy trying to prevent the gun from slipping through her hand as pulling back on the CH. With the new front handguard she can grasp the gun firmly enough that she pull back on the CH with pretty good authority.

Cheap Chinese dot sight was added (again, keeping with its heritage) which allows her to take on the 200 yard gong. Magpul pop up rear sight is just barely tall enough (you can just see the top half of the "circle" and the front sight) to co-witness. But it does the job as this is a range toy.

where did you get the MOE Handguard?

Had to wait 3 months from Brownell's as it was on back-order. Couldn't find any available in Canada at the time -- though things may have changed in the intervening period.
I'm also looking at getting the Magpul B.A.D lever but it is also on backorder. This will be for my Dlask as I don't want my daughter picking up bad habits by sticking her finger inside the triggerguard to manipulate the bolt release.

Those MOE handguards seem like a great idea if you just want to run a couple of accessories, no optics on the handguard and use the factory sight. You just slap on a couple of rails where you want them, and you're off to the races. The rest of the thing is sill a nice comfortable profile and not heavy like a rail cluster either, I guess.

Imar, may I ask how old and how big your daughter is? I am pondering a build for the womenfolk in my household - they find my chit-house milspec Bushie to be a little long for them. I need to go with the telescoping buttstock, and after that the choices are wide open.

Will that rig of yours fit the smaller lady?

She's 10 - average build. Little on the long and lanky athletic side.
