What do you guys think should be the forend on my latest build? I was leaning toward the DD Omega X 7"rail (NOT the Omega). It's FF, built in sling mount, uninterrupted top rail with that clean KAC URX look.

The other option I was toying with is using MOE hand guards but I'd like to put a light on and I'm not a fan of bolt on rail segments.

Here's the specs:

- Vltor MUR
- Colt 1/7 barrel/Colt Bolt Assembly
- Vltor VST
- LMT Lower
- Magpul CTR & Moe Grip
- SEI Vortex flash hider
- S&B in LaRue mount

The Objective is a light weight rifle, streamlined rifle while still retaining the Short Dot. It seems every time I build a nice rig with the intention of using the S&B it just becomes too unwieldy.

Lets hear from some other AR gurus, any input is welcome. ;)
 
Well, I think the MOE hand guard would look sweet, but a Midwest Industries railed hand guard with OD green covers would also look great, and allow you to tactacool of your rifle.

I don't know what they look like Angry. Maybe you could throw some pics up of the choices?

Whatever - I think anything you decide on will work great on that rig. It looks like it will go 150 MPH just standing still.

Were it me I would go with what felt best.
 
It looks like you have skateboard tape on the mag ..you don't plan on holding that while you shoot do you??? Lots of great advice I would go with the DD rail. and get a stubby vertical grip

It is skateboard grip tape. Anyone who holds a mag while firing is a moron. That was just a little experiment with out buying the actual grippy things that are ment for pmags. I have a buddy who owns a skate shop so he cut me a whack of it. I tried it on the handgun grips too :rockOn:

The only thing that I don't really like about DD rails is that they're too slim. I think there was a carbine length URX rail on EE a couple of days ago.

Before that, KAC needs to start making the wrench accessible like Daniel Defence - like 20 dollars wrench instead of 300 USD. Maybe KAC should include two barrel nuts in the package - one for GL, one for non-GL.

And other issue - that flip up integrated sight is kinda useless, and its sturdiness is not very confidence inspiring. I cannot mount a X300 on the rail at 12'o clock. I would rather that KAC cut 130USD off the price and let me buy my own Troy.

Ah, and start including 4 screws instead of 2 screws! and Make sure those plastic rails stay - the ones I got with my SR15 wont' stay!

Just saying....
