Can I swap the CZ858 grip with an AK47 wooden grip?

I prefer the look and feel of the AK grip, but I do not own a CZ 858 yet so I can't tell how the grip is held on to it. If it's just a bolt up the center of the grip it must be possible somehow?

Yes if you remove the retainer an AJK grip can be fitted. However I would suggest the FAB Defense grip for the VZ58 as it is much more comfortable.

How is that SAW Style grip?

Not bad at all, its held up fine. The only issue is that I find the controls easier to operate with the FAB one. I have VZs with both setups and I think overall I prefer the FAB unit mostly because it is easier to maintain control when active.

I have larger hands and the SAW grip is more comfortable but that comfort is traded off for control. I would switch the SAW grip out but there is no retainer on that gun anymore.

Is the CZ 858 grip held on in a similar manner to the AK 47? A long bolt up it's center? I have a spare AK 47 bakelite grip as well as the grip screw and anchor, both of which are used to attach the grip to an AK but I am not sure if they are needed to attach it to a CZ 858.

Can someone confirm this for me? Or will I have to get or make other parts for this to work. I'm hoping it's a straight drop-in replacement. Here's a photo of the parts I have.

you need to remove the grip retainer plate , easy to do but be careful.

all you need is the grip and screw , cant use the nut but the CZ858 nut will work , same thread.

for more instruction on how to , search "DIY" in the red rifles .

One last thing, is it possible to use a wooden handguard from and AK 47 and put it onto the CZ 858, with a little bit of work? Or a lot of work?

The reason I want all these AK parts on it, is that I have always wanted an AK 47, I love the look and history of them, but we can't own them in Canada, so I was hoping to make my CZ 858 look as close to the real thing as possible.

I would love to buy a nice set of AK front handguards in a beautiful wood finish, I especially like the red colored woods with the grain, they are expensive, but i think they look a lot better than the current CZ 858 handguards.

I did it :) I personally think the AK grip looks and feels better than the stock CZ tree-stump grip.
me too .

is this the begin of more furniture mod to come ? you're hooked. :D

Definitely, my next goal was to put AK handguards onto my VZ, then the front sight block will get swapped out, though with diameters of barrels and repainting the barrel after removal it may be awhile from now. I also plan on putting a Krinkov stock onto the back, I have the stock, it's just a matter of making a bracket for it to hold onto the VZ.

How difficult was it to mod the handguards to fit?
