The Chinese plants use similar machines. I imagine they could be had at a good price.

there were several sold at an auction in Nevada last spring. Most of them were very large, but a couple were rifle barrel size. the auction was a whole mothballed plant for making artillery barrels and shells. They even had loading machines, most of the stuff went to scrap according to an acquaintance who was there.

Pratt and Whitney make rifling tools. Probably a good percentage of custom shops use a P&W.

From the photos, they do both cut and buttion rifling

It is very easy to do custom twist with cut rifling, not so with button. Button is just faster.

Pratt & Whitney

Mick Mcphee in Kamloops has a p&w barrel machine , he is makeing a custom barrel for my Rem 5r ,I work on Pratt turbine engines for a liveing and did not even know they made rifle barrel machines until i took my gun to Mcphee .

PW was a tooling and machine maker long before PW aero was proposed to them by someone who wanted to use their money, name and shop space.

I believe P+W stopped making their rifleing machines right after WW2. They are in great demand, especially in the U.S.
