Norinco JW15...junk

Ok, so I went to a gun show this weekend and found a nice little norinco jw15, still in shipping grease! 200 bucks, so I thought ah what the heck i'll pick it up. Bring it home and clean it up and plink with it for a little while, and the I notice that the front sight is crooked, and when I really looked it it it was probably at a 5 degree angle compared to the back one, I just didn't notice in my "new gun excitement". So by then the show was over so I take it back this morning. Take it back to the guy and he gives me the other one he had, so I take this one home, get it home and try to take the mag out, its jammed in there. So I take a screwdriver and a towel and pry it out of there, take it apart and just unscrew and screw the mag well back on and the mags go in like a champ. So I am feeling better about this one. I degrease it and take it out to shoot. And 3 out of the 5 rounds jammed going in on the first mag. The bolt skipped over the lip on the .22 and just made a dent in the casing. So I take it back inside, adjust the magwell and try again, is still jamming. This piece of junk is going back. Never again norinco.
 
It wasn't a bad mag, cause instead of digging another one out the guy just gave me the one that I already had. I bought a second 10 round BRNO mag with the first gun and it clipped in really sticky and was difficult to get out.

....X2....man, I could have posted exactly the same thing about my JW15 feeding problems,fits me to a tee! I guess you've got to get lucky to get a good one. I just use mine as a single shot & it doesn't really group all that great....get better groups with my old Cooey. Lucky I didn't pay all that much for it.
 
Did you ever take it to a gunsmith or anything? Cause it seems to me that the mag is either not sitting high enough, or that the part that catches the bullet on the bolt was milled 1/32 of an inch too small.

Its a brand new gun in packaging, should he really have to take it to a damn gun smith. This obviously shows you that their quality control regiments are slim to non existant. After hearing and seeing all the talk and bad guns coming out of Norc, I will never buy one.
 
Ya, I have to say I am rather dissappointed in them, I talked to the seller and he lives like 600km away from me, so our agreement is to give it another try(adjusting the magwell that is) and if its a no-go then we are going to meet at the next gun show.
 
I had a similar experience with the Nork JW-25A (Mauser trainer). Bought one from Lever Arms at their Xmas sale a couple of years ago ($99!). It arrived in a bag 'o cosmoline of course. Front sight askew. Rear sight askew. FTF's by the bushel.

If you haven't tried already, make sure you take the bolt apart and spray the bugger down with solvent/degreaser. Firing pin was jammed up with cosmo. Afterwards it fired everytime. But still couldn't do much with the sights. Ended up selling it for what I paid and never heard complaints from the buyer (of course I was honest about it).

I bought one of those baby Mausers as well and it sure was a piece of work.:( But I anticipated that as I went into it and for $100 what can I say. It was a really nice project gun. After alot of refitting, cleaning, stripping and refinishing I have a gorgeous little rifle that always gets second looks at the range. But it was a lot of work to get it there. And it was also a lot of fun too.

If you don't like doing that kind of stuff then stay with the Brno/CZ's. They run and run and run and run and.... just like that little energizer bunny.:p
 
well I fixed the problem. All you really have to do is insert the mag into the magwell, and when you attach the magwell to the main body, the notch in the main body and the notch in the back of the mag have to be level. So she runs ok now, the action is a bit stiff so I need to smoothen that up somehow.
 
i must be lucky, i bought one a week ago, complete with silencer ( sorry guys.. none for you :p ) .. and its great, shoots straight, very accurate for what it is. no problems feeding..

for my $200 NZD im happy .. me thinks that ontop of ass quality rifles you got ripped on price too
