Remington 870 Wingmaster prices for New or Used

Hi, i am looking for a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauge pump preferably 3 1/2 inch if possible. I thought i could have bought a brand new one for around $400 but realized it was an Express, which from what Ive heard so far is a lot less quality.

I'm wondering what a Remington 870 Wingmaster 12 gauage preferably 3" 1/2 inch (if not a 3" would be find) pump action shotgun would cost New or Used?? :confused:
 
I was looking at two brand new Rem 870's in the shop yesterday: One Express, and one Wingmaster. I was talking to the owner of the shop, and he was saying that they're both the exact same gun: the Wingmaster just uses wood instead of synthetic, and has a different finish. It ultimately comes down to your intended use: occasional trap and skeet shooting out on the range, or hunting down in the mud? The Wingmaster's a lot prettier, but no point in buying a pretty gun if it's going to get bashed around on a hunting trip.

As an aside, I think the standard 870's accept up to 3" shells... you need to find one with a Super Magnum reciever to take 3 1/2" shells, so you might have to tack on an extra $100 for that (don't know the exact difference).
 
Another difference between the Wingmaster and the Express is how the parts are made. The parts for the wingmaster are machined while the express has a lot of pressed parts. You can really notice this difference when you feel how smooth the wingmaster is to pump compared to the express. The express also feels a little more loose and cheap in your hands. I personally own both of these gun. The wingmaster is about 30 years old and has never failed, and i have had the express for about 5 years now with very few problems. I consistency shoot 3 and a half's out of the express and am impressed. Both great reliable guns, either way you go its a great choice!

Vlaar: I didn't know that... interesting point. Is there a substantial amount of pressed vs machined parts between the two, or just certain things like the release for the action, etc? And, having said that, are these parts interchangable between the Wingmaster and the Express? For a firearm as popular as this model, there should be a reasonable amount of either OEM or aftermarket components available for repair/replacement/modification...
 
You can find one in super mag (870) for around $350 if you look around a bit. I got mine for $330. I have never had a wingmaster but I love both of my 870's, neither have caused me any issues.

I would not buy a rifle- shotgun or any firearm from this guy. Untill he learns the diferance in the quality of the firearms he is selling

:jerkit: Has he ever looked at, held or shot either of those guns? If he had he would be telling you a different story. That's like saying the Remington 710 and the Rem 700 are "the exact same gun" except the wood vs syn finish. Without opening up a bigger can of worms, I would have to agree with Bearhunter and advise you not to buy a single gun from that guy. Yes both are good for the right job but they are not the exact same gun.
 
hmm the express has a plastic triger gard... how bout the wingmaster. want one but hate plastic. but love the look of the 870

the Wingmaster triggergroup is all metal.
at least it was last time i checked - i wouldnt be suprised if those were made of 'tactical high-impact self-lubricating co-polymer' soon, thats the way everything is going.
