Russian oil bottle

I got this with my new SKS45, Its a paint oil bottle "its more for you SKS collectors"

Scratched on the back is the soldiers first 3 letters of his name and 3 digit number

standerd issue oil bottle, they usely come with the Mosin Nagants that thier importing these days. I cant remember how to read the russin lettering on the side one side stands for solvent the other for oil.

I just never seen one painted before

Yeah the one that came with my SKS wasn't painted. It actually came covered in grease ...guh, gotta love cleaning that crap up.

I was searching up military surplus on the web a few weeks ago though and a painted one came up as "Kalashnikov oil can"

How knows, maybe they painted them up later on and re-issued them?

Interesting. That "H" letter is Russian "N". Stands for Neft' ... which literally means crude oil...

Mine aren't painted...and "Щ" stands for caustic solvent and "H" for neutral.

I'm not russian but I thought that one side was for bore cleaner & the other was for oil?
