hornady microjust seating stem

I like mine, just ordered a few more so I don't have to move them around between the die's...Once you have your bullet set mark down the reading and bullet type for the next time that way if you use multiple bullets its faster to set up and start rolling...
I like the powder measure Mic for the same reason, cuts down on the time and amount of double checking powder loads...

thanks for the reply. does it have a way to lock the knob or does it
have a built in friction to hold it in place.

Charles; quit teasing. how is this redding comp seater work???
do u need tools to adjust?
the hornady micro is availible from russel sports for $26
thanks

The Hornady and Redding is kind of apples and oranges.

Hornady just replaces the stem, the Redding is the whole die.

I haven't tried the Redding, but own the Hornady. It works good for me but I'm not loading for competition, just hunting and target plinking loads.

Regardless, its nice to have that scale to dial up or down a thou relatively accurately.

thanks bulwhip; i'm sure the redding is good, but for my needs $26 is
more my speed compared to $150. i load for 3 44 mag rifles and between cast and jacket. i want something that i don't need tools to adjust. i know that i'm going to have to make my own stem and we'll cross that bridge
when i get there.

yeah well the 26$ is just for the seatign stem,

I was talking about the whole redding die which is totally worth it in the event that you go on and try precision shooting
It might be 150$ but it is worth IMO every penny. good seater with good neck sizer eliminates runout and is consistent.
And I didn't want to tease you:p. You can read abotu the design on their website but basicly it's a seater that has a moving "chamber". When you bring the plate up, the case goes up in the die and the chamber follows the casing up... it's pretty hard for me to explain. The only tool needed is an hex key to set up your zero (IF you want to set up a zero)

But if you already have a hornady seater and just want the upgrade, this one looks promising, I would try it myself, do they fit on rcbs dies?

Charles; i agree with u 100%. however this is not for competition, just
easy adjusting . as for fitting rcbs dies, with a milling machine and a lathe
i can guarentee it will fit. :D

The do what they are suppose to do. Give you a pretty good repeatable reference point if you load multiple COL / projectiles ( different shape projectiles will contact your seating stem in a different position and give different COL )

Having said that, if you have not bought your dies yet , there is simply no comparision. The Redding Competition seater die is a zillion times nicer than the Hornady seater with micrometer stem. I know its not a fair comparison due to the much higher cost

Bottom line...save your pennies until you can buy the Redding. Well worth the extra $$. I will never buy another Hornady seater

One of my pet peeves is that manufacturers of regular seating dies do not give you the depth change of one full rotation of the seating stem, or at least a close estimate.

Micrometer type seaters are good for that.

i hear what u are saying, however this is for my 3 44 mag carbines and a
357 mag rifle. i can garuntee u that these will not make to the olimpics.
any how i got them and i have them mounted and have them set up and
they work. the one on the right is the 357 mag with the extended decap
pin. this lets me neck size only as i only have the 1 rifle in that cal.
