Hi
My brothers is interested in the .22 Colt AR15. But being the cheap a*s that he is he wants it for the same price that they pay in the US  ( we saw some in Spokane last weekend)
So is there anyone ells who sells them. I know Moving Target sells them.
Thanks

not yet my freind. and there is no way you are gonna get it for the price they pay in the U.S. but this differs from state to state. You might get it for the California price. haha. They are still held up by the cfc, and I believe they are restricted. Thats what the distributor is saying, but he also said we should see them last week. I am still waiting.

Anyone hear anything on the .22 version of the Sig 556?
I think it's called the 522LR. Coming to Canada? Price?

We have been waiting since January for the CFC/RCMP to classify the firearm... still waiting. I think we're going to end up having to get them a sample for examination... but SIG hasn't filled orders for them yet so we can't even get the sample until SIG starts shipping. We have orders in for them (for our US office) and those orders date back to last January... we'll have the guns as soon as they start shipping in the US... the only question is whether they'll be allowed to come to Canada.

If RCMP deems them to be "Variants" of the 556 then that would classify them as "Prohibited" and obviously we wouldn't be allowed to import them... but the gun is NOT (in our opinion) a variant of the 556. It's only linkage is that "it looks similar" to a 556 but the receiver, internals, etc. are NOT compatible or interchangeable. The only parts that can be interchanged (as I understand it) are the stock and the handguard.

The 522 is a new firearm and not a modification or variation of the 556... we believe strongly that it should be classified on it's own merits, meaning it would be a Restricted firearm (based on barrel length).

Time will tell...

Pricing is not yet finalized but we estimate price here in Canada to be @ $599.00 to $674.99 (somewhere in that range).

Unfortunately seems that's enough for the RCMP to classify anything prohibited or restricted

Not necessarily... and if they were as "negative" as people seem to think then the guns would have been classified "Prohibited" back in January when we submitted the request. The fact that they are examining this with an open mind and waiting for detailed info about design, etc. from SIG tells me that we're getting a "fair shake" and that there's a reasonable chance they will be classified "Restricted".

In the past a lot of these Variant classifications were the result of the manufacturer's themselves calling their "new guns" a variant of a model that was already designated Prohibited. Once the manufacturer calls it a " design Variant" it's pretty tough for the RCMP not to accept that as fact and use that as the basis for their classification. But in this case SIG has never claimed or advertised the gun as a variant of the 550/551 or 556. That is a critical piece of the puzzle here... let's wait and see what happens.

The people in Tables Section are not the anti-gun, "ban everything" types that many Gunnutz believe them to be... I know that's not a popular opinion but it's the way I see it. I don't always agree with their decisions/rulings but I have found them to be fair and reasonable when a valid case can be made to them.

That is the funniest thing I've seen in a long time!!!

While I truly feel sorry for that dealer given the amount of money he's obviously lost on the product... I guess we don't have to wonder what he thinks of the product... or the manufacturer. Talk about "truth in advertising"

Also interesting to note that even with his clear and explicit comments about the failure of the product he still managed to get 23 bids and it sold for $380.00

If it is not a variant of a prohibited or restricted firearm, then would it not be non-restricted?

Sorry... what I meant to post is that it could be classified as Restricted based on over-all-length... we won't know until we get them but if the overlength is too short when the stock is folded then it's Restricted... otherwise the non-restricted classification would apply.

No barrel length minimum for rimfire :)

Sig has it listed as 26.1" folded, so it should just make it under the wire as non-restricted...I would hope

If it's restricted based on OAL I presume that you would be able to pin or fix the stock and have it reclassified?

Buy a Norinco CQ311 for $600-$700 or a CQ556 for $800-$900, buy a CMMG .22lr conversation bolt-carrier group for $200-$300 and there ya go! A .22 cal AR type rifle for approx. $900 to $1200. :dancingbanana:
Shouldn't be hard. People are always selling them, check out the EE.

The Sig 556 in 22lr would be pretty sweet to have.
My brother wanted the Colt becaus it was supposed to be classified non-res. He is not a big range fan he likes to shoot in the bush and honestly I will take the bush over the range any day but then I can shoot my RRA-AR15 :(
