So where can i shoot my non restricted rifle, how far away do i have to be from the highway - residence - city???

Might want to check with the land owner before shooting on their land. Maybe see if someone knows a place to go shooting. I seem to remember a place near Winnipeg where people went to shoot but Non-restricted can't remember the place. Since mine was easy I had friends in the area and went shooting/hunting on their property.

I prefer to shoot in the woods, ranges are nice but i dont feel like payaing $500 a year to shoot my non-r firearms when i can just go for a short drive and shoot them anywhere (where legal) and anythime of the year.

I was talking about a gravel quarry (to the north I think) so you have a back stop.

Personally I don't like paying for a place to shoot don't have a choice here.

All I was saying is make sure you aren't shooting on someone's land without permission. You can't just walk on to someones land and start blasting away. I can tell you I'd be mad as hell if someone walked on to my property even in the middle of no where and started shooting without asking. When I was renting out west the owner always brought the guys around who he let hunt and made sure I knew where they where hunting and such to keep my kids and animals away from that area.

if i remeber right in mantioba it's
3km out side city.
1km from a house. (unless your yard)
500 yards from highway.
6ft off graval road.
3ft from car/truck

Can you confirm this? I was always told, and most the info comes from manitoba conservation officers,

Every area has different bylaws and the town I live in for example, no shooting in town limits but their is no distance restriction from town. One of the places we hunt is close to a residence of which the person that lives their is against hunting. She tried phoning the police and such. We spoke to Manitoba conservation on the location and they said we can shoot right in front of the house if we wanted to as long as we stayed on crown land.
I know it is written that in cotage areas that if posted you must me 300 meters away and aswell as in logging areas, but only if posted. As far as the highway or gravel road goes you must be on the other side of the ditch. And was also told as far as a car/truck goes you must not be touching it, and thats only when hunting if you don't have a special permit that allows you to hunt from your vehicle.

Alberta? Well I hear you can shoot anywhere out there...it's like the old west! :D

Actually, what you may want to do is head to your local provincial government access office (out here in BC they are called the BC Access Centre). I went into mine and just asked them if they had a map or listing of all the areas where I could legally shoot. Sure enough, they have a nice map that shows you all the places where it is legal to discharge a firearm.

Might be different in Alberta, but it's worth a shot...
