HK USC/UMP prohibited?

I had the opportunity to try a genuine UMP the other day. Here's the video. It is a very fun firearm, and it is really quite accurate as well. Needless to say, the "cool factor" is through the roof with these. The previous week I had the opportunity to try a USC to UMP conversion - which is also really nice. In practical terms in Canada, with our 5 round mags, if you can get a nice conversion set up for a USC it is pretty much just as good. Just as fun. Just as accurate. The differences seem to be: (1) the UMP has a double-stack 25 round mag which is really "massive" compared to the 10 round single-stack USC mags; (2) the UMP folding stock folds all the way down and will stay down. The H.E.R.A. conversion for USC will not fold flat; (3) The UMP trigger is a bit heavier, but it doesn't make it (any less) accurate or shootable as far as I can tell. Both are really fun to shoot and accurate; (4) The UMP is probably going to be at least twice as expensive - although the converted USC are also very expensive by the time you get done (hell, the bone stock USC is pretty pricey itself). Check out my USC vids as well if your interested.

I have often said that most of guns are "transitional", as in I use them for awhile, sell them, and try something else. My USC/UMP is not one of those. Some things just feel right and good. It's a keeper.

You can convert your USC with a UMP lower, which accepts the 25-rounders (pinned). The HDPS parts work a little better than the HERA, and stock folds all the way and stays there. The only visible difference is the USC markings and the semi-auto only safety markings. You have to get the vent holes milled on your upper though. That's the setup on mine, and a few others I've seen in the posted pics--Nemo's notably.

I always wanted one until I fired a UMP a few years ago, walked away sort of underwhelmed. It was nice and all- but it didnt seem to have the wow factor I thought it might. Would rather go with a TP9 or something.

That's how I feel about my G36K.... it is cool, but underwhelming, given the steep price tag.

Finding the UMP semi lower is the hard part though... I would love to do a traditional USC-UMP conversion but just cant find the UMP lower. Would buy one right now If I could.... I have a semi-completed USC/UMP stock block "technical drawing" done for AR15 stocks even...

Would save me from getting rid of my USC :D (which im still waffling on right now...)

Sorry Nemo, my bad. It just looked like mine from the pic. I stand corrected, and impresssed by your wares.

You might be thinking of the other one shown in some of these theads on Gunnutz and in some of "Nemo's" videos and my videos on Youtube. There are a few USC conversions and a few genuine UMPs floating around among the regulars at our range. Those "family photos" Nemo is showing, those do not all belong to one person.

These are some more pictures of one of the USC to UMP conversion I was posting in another thread. I imagine this is very similar to yours - and this is a very nice set-up to shoot! :)

I watched the video, very cool. the main difference I noticed was that the one in the video still uses USC mags, good cuz they are plentiful, but mine uses the UMP mags. Still, fun on a bun. Where is everyone getting those Zeiss reflex sights?

PS. If your pal needs more USC mags, I have some for sale on the cheap as my rig doesn't use them. Go Banana.:dancingbanana:

when I went through depot as top score for qualification I was allowed to burn a few mags on an MP5. Ever since I haven't been able to shake the desire to do the 'HK Slap' with one of my own. I've had my deposit down since last February and have a chubby the cat couldn't scratch to have one of these tasty morsels in my possesion. Oddly it took less time to import the conversion parts in .40 than to than to import the carbine... :bangHead:

I don't miss my Mark 23 but this will sit nicely in the safe between the G36K and the TP9. If I don't spend it she will...
