Tikka T3 lite in a 300 win mag

whats everyone think of the tikka t3 lite in a 300 win mag and what kinda loads have u found work the best for it?
 
My Tikka shoots 180 grain Nosler Partitions over 75 grains of RL22. I hope that you are recoil hardened, because a tupperware Tikka in .300 Win Mag will put the fear of God into most shooters.
 
I bought one last year and so far I love it. I find the cheap winchester in 180 grain seem to work as good in my gun as any. I have a limbsaver on mine and seems to keep recoil down to reasonable.

I prefer a Limbsaver pad to the fear of God personally.
 
t3 in 338 with a limbsaver is a pussycat to shoot. i also have in 7 and 300 mag. good stocks felt recoil is not bad at all
 
I was wondering this same thing. I see the tikka tactical comes in 300 win mag and weighs 2 pounds more than the T3 lite. Almost wondering if that 2 pounds is a good thing given the recoil of 300 win mag in a super light gun like the tikka t3. 2 pounds more than the tikka t3 lite is still lite enough to lug around hunting right?
 
depends on you i carry a heavy barreled 7m remington mag with a laminate wood stock and a huge scope weighs in around 11 or twelve pounds heavier makes it a more stable shooting surface depends on what your willing to do

Good choice, the fear of God is rather worse than recoil. I went with a Decellerator and slightly heavier wood version. My buddy's plastic/factory "pad" version stings, whereas mine is a pussycat.

My girlfriend shoots 180s out of her Tupperware .30-06 without whining at all....:D

Good, nobody likes whining women.:D A 30-06 isn't a .300 Mag though. There is that little matter of 22 versus 32 footpounds of recoil. I adjusted the weights using a 1 pound scope, mounts, and ammo used my own loads and rounded a bit. A 50% increase in recoil will get noticed.

Not sure what numbers you ran but I only get 4-5 pounds of recoil difference, both shooting a 180 grain bullet of course. Regardless, the .300 has does have some more recoil and a quality recoil pad is a good idea on a T3 or any other lightweight firearm but the recoil is very manageable with a quality pad in place.....even for a chick.

I have a T3 SS Lite in 338 WM and put on a quality recoil pad because with out it recoil is really noticable. I also have the T3 SS Varmint in 300 WM and it does not carry an aftermarket recoil pad but does have a muzzle brake. The varmint is still easy to carry but I would use the Lite for longer walks.

My 300 WM likes 180 Fail safes, Win mag primers and 70gr of IMR4350. It will shoot sub MOA with that load.

My 338 WM uses 250 Partition Gold Moly's, Win mag primers, and 68gr of IMR4350. About 1.5" groups from a 7-1/4lbs gun, not too bad.

I used 2700 fps for the 30-06 (58 grain powder charge), 3100 fps for the .300 (75 Grain powder charge) 6 3/16 pounds for the 06, 6 3/8 for the .300, and added 1 pound to each for the scopes.

Some of those chicks are tougher than they look. Many men aren't nearly as tough as they would have you believe.
 
.300 Win Mag loads.

Every .300 Win Mag I've loaded for seemed to really like 70 grains of IMR4350 behind a good 180 gr JHP. Goes out at about 2950 fps from a 24" barrel. Got this recipe from a long time, successful, moose hunter.

Agreed on the IMR 4350 - 70 grain recipe. With 180 grain Accubonds and Rem Core-lokt Ultra I get the tightest groups with my Tikka Lam/Stainless. (MOA or better)
I save the RL-22 for my 200 grain bullets.
 
I have the Tikka in a .338 and I'm not a small guy. I put a de-accelerator on mine and it is an entirely different gun, reduce the pain and recoil so you can enjoy the hunt.
