Big Bear

Went bear hunting this spring and caught this guy on the camera. He dwarfs the 50 gallon drum he's standing beside. 7 days in the stand and never saw him again on the camera. Oh well, maybe next year.

Thoughs pictures are from the spring? I'd have to say that would be a GIANT bear in the fall, say over 500lbs I'd estimate

Yep, I believe we put the camera out there around the middle of april.

I will bet that bear was 500 lbs in the spring, more like 650+ fall weight.
Manitoba has the biggest bears in the country for sure, or at least, it has more record book bears then any other area in the country.


FWIW there were 2 500 lb bears shot in the Whitecourt area last spring.

ya I was underestimating, ANy links to Manitoba black bear records? I know the Ontario record is like 720lbs shot last year, same guy shot a 705lber the year before. Can't remember any measurments

Coldwater might be a bit of a drive from Calgary, but their still moving here. A small one crossed the road about 100yds ahead of my truck on the way home from work tonight. This would be about 1km or less from my bait site. I don't have a trail cam, but I do have a photo of a 5" wide front track at my bait. I'm not sure how big it would be compared to the monster in OakArms pics.
