It's only because blowback can't be done.
Of course it
could be done.....but in Canada? The PPSH and PPS are prohib. You can get parts kits and tool up to make something fugly like in your pics, but you are limited to five round mags and in for considerable expense.
Creating a blow back action with a higher pressure round is not something a home designer should probably try IMO. The case must be fully supported when firing higher power ammunition. As you know, there must be a delay in time between the firing of the round and the time the breach is opened and the bolt begins to travel rearward. It doesn't really matter how you accomplish this, weather by a locked breech or by simple blow back, but it
must be right, or injury can occur. If you don't get the bolt mass, barrel length and recoil spring just right you could easily have an unsafe situation.
In light of that, using a system already suited to high pressure rounds,ie the AR, would be way easier to work with.
I've read (over the past few days) that someone did the math on creating a blow back action for the 30-06. Apparently you would have to have a bolt weight of 27 pounds to be safe enough to fire! Imagine the strength of recoil spring you would need to return that sucker into battery!
