They way I think is that it doesn't make a lot of sense to spend more money on a gun that is restricted when the exact same gun with a slightly longer barrel is available for less money, less hassle and can be used more places.Really Claybuster? That's the direction that you want to take this conversation/thread in? Everyone is a complete idiot except you? THe only way to not be a "complete idiot" is to enjoy shooting in the one narrowly defined way that you do? You really think that way?...
As for the direction of this thread you took it there with your "Elmer" remark. Seems the tacticoooool guys feel free to throw around the cheap shots but become such delicate flowers when they get a little in return.
BTW, the $2,700 includes the taxes.

Why is this your concern? How someone spends their money is their business not yours. One could argue why you bust clays. To many, it could be seen to be a complete waste of time. Once you shoot those clays can you eat them?

I was responding to a question from another poster and the last time I checked this was a discussion board. I am participating in a discussion, offering an opinion. It is however a different opinion than those who fall all over themselves at the latest tactical toy.
The Benelli M4 is a great shotgun. Probably the best tactical shotgun on the market today. In the non-restricted form it is a practical gun with many uses, not so with the shorter barrel under our current laws
Although you do make a fair point about clays. While they are excellent practice for upland and waterfowl hunting they are inedible. The tactical pumpkin killers could make a pie.
I made a tongue-in-cheek comment and didn't call anyone a "complete idiot" for not thinking the way I do... So your argument doesn't hold water. You don't have to agree with what others think, but neither do you need to call them idiots for having the opinions that they do.
As for the $2700 price including taxes... Well only a "complete idiot" would live somewhere where you would have to pay $300 in taxed on a $2400 purchase...

b-b-b-b-but......if I follow your line of thinking, that $10000.00 perazzi is an idiots purchase. I mean, it doesn't break birds any better than a cheap baikal.... and with skeet/skeet chokes it's really only very good at one thing......at the range.....because no one would take a 10,000.00 gun out in the duck blind........why would anyone spend 10K on a shotgun that only gets used at the range?
I wouldn't spend $10,000 on a Perazzi either
but it does serve a purpose. Set up properly it could be used for all Clay games. And in a pinch it could smash a Pumpkin too. And if you did want to take it into the field you could. As it would be Non Restricted.I would and have. Pheasant, grouse and crow hunting too.

^^^ Yes, but the POINT is that spending 10000 on a shotgun is something you do because you WANT it, NOT because you need it.....and that's what it's all about. If someone buys that M4 because they WANT it, it makes them no more of an idiot than someone who pays 10K for an O/U.

It has nothing to do with a "superiority complex" It has to do with versatility. A restricted Shotgun has very little. When you could purchase the same gun with a longer barrel for less money. And use it for just about everything.

I don't care what other poeople own... Full autos, dewatts, fancy schmancy shotguns, pistols, bolts, levers, or blackpowder....and I don't care if they use them to hunt, shoot targets, or just fondle them in their gun room......I'm just happy they have what they want. You guys, on the other hand, are just self important enough that you feel you can pass judgement on others for their own personal choices.
No one is passing any "judgement" on anyone personally. The opinions were on a gun... Not on the people that buy them. For voicing a negative opinion I get called a "FUDD". If you don't like varying opinions this would be a very dull website.
Do you get more mag capacity with the Non-Res M4?..... Nope. So whats the point for someone that only shoots at the range....
