VZ-58 Cocking Handle

I like the gun, but I think that that is the biggest eyesore, and really takes away from it's AK look.

Would there be any way to swap out a VZ-58's cocking handle to somthing that looks more in line with an AK-47's cocking handle? Custom work would not be a problem, but I need to know that there is enough bulk to the VZ-58's bolt to work with.

Can't you see that the VZ-58 is a far better looking firearm (as if looks were that important in a combat weapon)?
OK, for the righties, I could admit a left side charging handle is better but I can't for the life of me understand why every pea shooter on the planet should look like the Sacred Holy Avtomat Kalashnikov rifle.
Or should we have another word MallAlkaidaFatahAllahAkbarTralalaBananaNinja style?:

My recocking method of choice is to tilt the rifle and slap the knob during a fast reload. You've just got to knock the bolt carrier off the latch.

If you file that knob into a point and you try to get fast with the rifle you're going to stick yourself in the hand.

Either that or shoulder the rifle *HARD*. The inertia is usually enough to close the bolt.

Same here, works great on the SKS as well. Very slick and allows positive control with the hand still on the pistol grip. Used the same technique on the C9 LMG's years ago.

You reached over the top of a C9 to hit the cocking handle with your left hand?

Not so much to hit it, but to operate the cocking handle during non prone IA's.

Just tuck the butt under your arm, cant the weapon to the left so the handle is almost vertical, #### with left hand, open the feed cover, belt and most jammed link falls away on it's own, slap it closed, fire the action, cant slightly right, open feed cover, flop the belt on the tray, gravity holds it against the cartridge stop, slap the cover closed, cant left, #### the action, resume rounds down range.

It may sound long winded but with practice it works very well, especially with the new shorties standing, on the move, or kneeling.

Now back to your CZ/VZ related discussion.

Wow.. never used a C9 under fire I see.. You can remove 1/2 of that drill right away... There's a difference between TOET's and real world. With experience you'll figure out how to get your bang stick back into the game with the least amount of moves. Time kills.

Sure you can, but if I described it as ####/lift/load/fire someone else would have been busting balls about proper drills, there's no pleasing the entire internet.

That bit is simply uncalled for, I don't know you and vice-versa, but I do know I've seen more than my fair share. I wouldn't question your professional integrity in a public forum, it's simply bad form.
