WTF they call their entry level stuff Canadian? I am insulted, what about all the VXIII's and VXL's I own, they gonna call them the Mexican line 
Naw, I can't find anything about them on Leupold's website. There is a system called CDS, where a custom elevation dial is made for you. That must be what someone was referring to in an previous discussion of the Leupold Canadian Scope.

The Canadian is a VX II that was made special order for Canada only. It can only be bought from a Canadian dealer. It is a CDS system and you can get a custom BDC dial done up or one of five factory dials.
If you want a custom dial you can go to our web page and get the form. Just search korthgroup.com. It is under custom shop and how to order. You can have it filled out then go to the dealer of your choice and they will fix you up.

I figure with 1/2 moa clicks, you can get within 1/4" of perfection at 100 yards, and none of my guns shoot 1/4" patterns, so that should be good enough.
Regarding the custom CDS dials for the VX3s; can a dial be made up to observed drops? In other words, if I sent in my tested drop chart for a specific rifle, scope and load will Korth engrave the tested data on the dial?
Another question, can existing VX3s and VX111s be back-fitted with these dials?

Yes, but if you are talking the CDS system on the Canadian you would be restricted to one revolution of thge dial. They have a stop on it so only out to about 57 1/4 minute clicks.
Yes the adjustments are starting to become available for retrofit.

In your opinion is the erector assembly spring set up of the VX3 a significant advantage for the CDS system?

I think that there is way to much emphasis placed on different erector springs. I have looked at the conversions done on benchrest scopes and the reality is that the spring part of the conversion makes no difference. In fact I can see a bigger problem with the coil spring. It tends to wear on the erecter system. That is worse than a flat spring getting weak after 30 or 40 years! Do coil springs last longer than flat springs? Yes but how long does it take to wear out a flat spring in a scope. I have worked on Leupold scopes made in the 50's-60's and the spring is still there and doing it's job. The double flat spring does put more pressure on the system, but I am not an engineer so can't say how much is needed.
I have two Leupold 36's one with double spring and one with single. Both shoot equally as well.
I think the single most important criteria of a scope being accurate is close tolerances in the fit between the main tube and the internal parts.
I also think that the single most important criteria of a rifle being accurate is a good bedding job. That has fixed a lot of scope problems. It won't fix a flinch though!!!!

I know that I have done enough custom CDS dials in the last couple of months that there are lots out there. Most of the dials so far have started at 200 yds. and gone in 50yd. increments to between 600 and 750 yards ( depending on your ballistics ).I have done them for .22 rimfire and they are pretty cool! I have done M1, M2, M3, and target dials as well. I have heard back from only one user of an M1 dial that was done out to 1200 yds. and he said it was dead on at all yardages. Having said that you have to realize that the conditions of the day will effect those results.
What would be the max range on a 7mm 160gr @ 3000 fps with B.C of .531 with a 200 yard zero.
500 yards would be 37 inch low
600 yards would be 62 inch low
700 yards would be 97 inch low
What scopes do the M1, M2, M3 turrets fit on?

700 would be the max.
M1 will fit on any VX 2 and 3 and fixed, but requires the scope to be modified ( target turret and the dial well pressed on)
M
2 and 3 fit the Mk4.
CDS dials will go on Vx 1, 2 and 3 but adjustment needs to be changed for any that are not a CDS scope. I also have to engrave an alignment mark on the turret housing.

I have my choice nailed down to this style of scope or a Zeiss with Zplex.
