Peltor Tac 7 question.

I am in the market for a new set of electronic muffs.

My current set of Peltor Tac 6 muffs have a crack in the plastic making the muffs almost not worth wearing because so much noise comes through. Won't be buying these again.

The Tac 6 are very low profile and I find them uncomfortable to wear for extended periods of time as they press against my ears.

Do the Tac 7's have more ear room in them than the Tac 6 or should I be looking at another brand of protection?

If you return them for repair it will most likely be free. Has been for any I have returned for customers. If you email me I can give you the Toronto address, they are now run by 3M in North America.

Would still like to hear from anyone using the Tac 7's as far as roominess inside.

They work well and are comfy enough, but you should check the NRR levels before you buy....I still wear mine, but only with lite duty ear plugs.

NRR level of the Tac 7 is 24db where the Tac 6 is 19db

They are not the most efficient a noise reduction but noise amplification is the best by far and confort. You can also plug a radio into them and they are low profile. Just add a set of soft plugs when at the range. Bonus you can wear them hunting and you will ear sounds that you have never eard before.

Yeah, I read about the amplification, but it left me confused... Does it electronically dampen discharges but amplify everything else? Do they dampen everything like regular muffs and amplify when activated (which wouldn't make much sense)? Inquiring minds want to know!

Like every other electronic muff, they shut the amplification off at a certain decibel level then they usually fade back in.

$280 is rather expensive as there are other models of Peltors that also have an input jack for MP3 player, radio etc, but less $$ with the same NRR rating.
