Sks ???

This belongs in the red rifle sub-section...

Definetly not junk just mass produced. If your looking for accuracy then go with a Remington 700 or savage arms for that. The sks is a ditch pig you can shovel sand and mud and it will not quit. Very simple to use, cheap to feed and a whole lot of fun. They are so fun and cheap that I have 2. Some people have way more. :dancingbanana:

how does the black one shoot with the bayo removed?
id love to hacksaw mine off and stab it into some roadkill to let it rust in the ditch forever but i hear self proclaimed 'gunsmiths' crying about barrell harmonics depending on the bayo for accuracy.

my sks-d has no bayonet. the only thing the bayonet lug is there for is the bayonet itselg and to hole the cleaning rod in.

that being said i love my bayonet on all my sks's.

SKS are real bargain. They are built to last, easy to field strip and resonably accurate. Groups of 3 to 4 inchs at 100 yds are possible, depending on the rifle. here,s my 3 samples:from top to bottom, russian used Tula 1955/56
Unissued russian Tula 1953
Chinese type 56 late production.

The SKS in my opinion is like the AK in that the user must get close to be affective in battle for accuracy.
As the Lieutenant Colonel Nguyen Huu An said. "Grab them by the beltbuckell"

They're built like a T34 tank - simple, rugged, reliable. As far as accuracy goes, I can shoot 8" balloons one after the other at 100 yds, offhand, firing at a rate no more than 5 seconds per shot.

I've got three and about a case of Czech ammo for each. Every shooter should have at least one!

They look cool, are cheap (around $230 each), fun, cheap, ($230!) simple, and are built like a brick sh*t house, not to mention Cheap. And with ammo going for $200/case of 1120 on stripper clips (thats 17 cents a round) whats not to like?
