It doesn't surprise me. If you want a non-restricted bullpup it's one of the very few that are available in any quantity after the Type 97 fiasco.
Yah, I was following those threads pretty closely. Major raw deal for a lot of people. I really hope it gets sorted out soon and the people behind the "permanent limbo" policy get set straight.
In regards to this batch of Tavors which is being pre-sold...
I had been looking to buy a new Tavor over a year ago and I was on the waiting list for the shipment that was supposed to arrive last Jan. But, when January turned into Febuary and still no new Tavor's, I went looking for a used one. Last March, I almost landed that used one off the EE that had the nice case, a bunch of spare mags, and other accessories(if my memory servers me right). But, while I had thought the owner had accepted my offer of paying his full $3150 asking price and the deal was done, he contacted me to say he found a local buyer that would save him on the shipping. If he had just listed it as not including shipping or else asked for more money in his initial posting, I would have gladly paid the higher asking price or the shipping. For me, it would have still been a good price considering the accessories and no tax. But I was put off by the seller changing his mind after I thought we had already come to an understanding so I let it go without attempting to sweeten my offer.
Anyway, back to the topic of the new batch being brought in by CanAmmo: Keeping in mind my earlier experience with trying to buy that used Tavor, the coolest thing for me is that CanAmmo didn't raise the prices. There are very few Tavors ever listed on the EE, and the few that do come up usually go for full price or more. It would have been pretty easy for CanAmmo to get away with jacking their numbers given the limited supply, but they didn't. So, for that, they have my appreciation. (But, my impatient nature still wishes they had brought them in earlier, even if it meant that I would have to pay more due to the previously less favourable US currency exchange)
Actually, I don't envy CanAmmo's position in all this. If they did bring them in earlier and had to increase the prices to cover currency exchanges, all those people who had put down deposits towards the list price of $2999 would have been screaming. And, by waiting until the currency exchange was favourable enough to bring the tavors in and sell them for $2999, people like me start complaining about the delays. Clients suck;-)
